Yeah shit news. Pleased that he got the go from the start too & then this. Speedy recovery. According to John Wark here, Andre Dozzell has done his cruciate. Awful news. #itfc— Joe Fairs (@joefairs) August 5, 2017
Gutting, for the player and the club. He'd grown into the game and was totally dictating our play - playing in a deeper role, getting on the ball and brilliant passing through the lines that was making things happen. So sad for him - hopefully not as bad as first feared. Only positive was that another '99 came on to replace him in Flynn Downes and was very good as well - very different player but looked comfortable in the Championship
No, he'd been caught a few minutes before, but then a corner got cleared and he him and Che Adams went to get it and Adams got ahead of him and he just went down. Thought there was more in it with how our skipper reacted to get ball cleared but he just got his studs caught (presumably) and twisted his knee
Huge blow for @andredozzell with the news that the #itfc midfielder has torn his cruciate & will be sidelined for nine months. pic.twitter.com/DFPIBxSJVj— Ipswich Town (@IpswichTown) August 7, 2017
Terrible news. There must be always a talented midfielder having a serious injury at the beginning of the season, two years ago Will Hughes and Teddy Bishop, last year Jermaine Anderson, now him. Hopefully he will come back stronger next summer.
Gutted for Dozell. Especially when McCarthy decided to play him in central midfield. There's a curse with technical left footed English players (wilshere, Sturridge...). Hopefully it doesn't impact his career, I'm fuming.
Came back flying from Euro's, only did a week or 2 of pre season and ended up starting and in a key role on opening day - sitting deep in a 3 man midfield and was getting on the ball dictating the pace of all our play. Dreadful stuff for ITFC and him, felt like it could have been a big season
Downes is taking his chance well, Tristan Nydam also played last night. We currently have Emyr Huws, Tom Adeyemi, Luke Hyam and Teddy Bishop either injured or ill so would be hugely surprised if we sign another CM as are well stocked there - especially with emergence of Downes and Nydam
Hopefully not, there's loads of 96/97 players who could do with the exposure and opportunity. Foden has the WC to focus on and his time will come. Presumably he'll be allowed to go to the WC anyway. Managers often start seasons by keeping their favourite young players close like this before they drift away.
I don't think being a Premier League sub automatically gets you an under-21 call. Tom Davies was a Premier League starter for much of last season and he didn't get one.
I understand and that should be the case, but Foden has a bigger profile than Davies and City is a bigger club than Everton. I hope he can go to the U17 WC and then get callups for the U19's this year. The U21's already has a lot of potential anyway.
Squad: Ellery Balcombe (Brentford), Keanan Bennetts (Tottenham Hotspur), Ben Brereton (Nottingham Forest), Jaden Brown (Tottenham Hotspur), Flynn Downes (Ipswich Town), Elliot Embleton (Sunderland), Edward Francis (Manchester City), George Hirst (Sheffield Wednesday), Reece James (Chelsea), Daniel Kemp (West Ham), Jonathan Leko (West Bromwich Albion), Marcus McGuane (Arsenal), Mason Mount (Vitesse Arnhem, on loan from Chelsea), Reiss Nelson (Arsenal), Edward Nketiah (Arsenal), Tristan Nydam (Ipswich Town), Ryan Schofield (Huddersfield Town), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur), Jake Turner (Bolton Wanderers), Josh Tymon (Stoke City), Tariq Uwakwe (Chelsea), Joe Willock (Arsenal).
First call up for Flynn Downes, he's been excellent for ITFC this season. Box to box midfielder, loves a tackle but very positive on the ball too
The Quality and depth of this group has snuck under the radar. U19 Euro's & Toulon highlighted it for us.
And if he plays, I'm pretty sure he'll be the youngest under-21 ever, as long as I'm right in thinking that it's currently Walcott.
Came off the bench for Fulham's cup match the other day, and started their previous game, so I think he's fit. A senior cap does sound unlikely though. Perhaps there's something to the links with Man Utd etc. and he's been left to sort his future out?
