Seems strange to me, the coach can't find room for the most technically skilled player in this age group.

Looks a strong side. Just hope they make it tell.

Guess it's either Mount or Edwards as your ten (you can't leave out any of Dasilva, Sessegnon, Sterling or Alexander-Arnold as they're all excellent, so can't shove either of them wide) or Mount deeper in midfield and Edwards as the 10, which is a bit of a gamble against someone like Spain. I'm biased but Mount's a better all-round footballer than Edwards and that's why he's got the nod. We'll see if it pays off.

I think both could play. Also think Willock would bring something different on the left. Team doesn't look very balanced on paper and I'd rather play Sessegnon left back than in midfield.

It's very well balanced to me, two proper wide players on each side of the pitch, two dependable central midfielders, a goalscoring 10 and a proper centre forward. Sessegnon hasn't played left-back all season either, and despite being comfortable there, it's not a good time to move him away from where he's been most effective of late.

Willock and Edwards are two of the flakier players in the squad, capable of scintillating excellence but often go through long spells where they disappear and don't contribute a great deal. Can't afford for that to happen in the decisive match in the group.

I can't disagree with Juni. This starting team looks so balanced and the age group in general has come through so strongly since the 2015 Euros.

Speaks volumes that the plan that summer was basically 'hope Edwards or Willock produces something out of nowhere' and yet now they're on the bench and it's not because of a huge regression from them or some strange management.

I agree too. Though with plenty of help from the U18s (& Sessegnon U17). The fact that we're currently beating Spain without Edwards and Willock is impressive, though maybe not so much cause I may be underestimating this lot.

Norway beating Belarus 2-0 in the first half.

If they hold on and we hold on then we go to the Euros.

I can understand the idea around Edwards and Willock maybe not starting this game. But only getting 17 mins between them in the last game we had pretty much won by the 55th minute?

Half of our outfield options starting today can play again in the next campaign.

    2-0, Alexander-Arnold wins and scores a penalty.

It seems like nobody his age can cope with TAA at the minute. Just dominating the whole right side in any u21 age group he plays in.

still tough to achieve but this must be our best chance at a U17/U19 Euros double in recent memory.

We've qualified with a game to spare because we've beaten both opponents who will be on three points after these games.

3-0 FT. Quite the achievement to qualify after what was a pretty poor first qualifying phase.
