Musah just goes and scores a thunderbolt after good work from Mighten on the left where Carvalho picks up his cross and cuts it back for Musah.
Good half, only conceded because on an individual error (party down to the pitch I imagine). Mighten & Rogers both able to beat their men easily, Gelhardt popping up everywhere holding it up brilliantly & Musah just making everything look effortless.
Looks like all change. Just Musah, Mengi, Roberts (at CB) and Dorsett (at LB) still out there ? Maybe Weir and Gk too.
Austria have been quite cynical with fouls, been quite a few pulling of the shirts and deliberate trips etc, when they have been well beaten from what I’ve seen. Guess they get away with it because it’s a friendly but if it was qualifying then I suspect we would have seen plenty of cards.
Is it me or has Madueke become quite an awkward looking carrier of the ball when I don't remember it being the case ? For me right now, it is who starts ahead of Musah and Azeez in midfield. All of Palmer, Carvalho, Madueke (not convinced wide - has he being playing there for PSV ?), Bate and even Sarmiento (supposedly can play there but he does look like I get the ball I want to run at you type though) are the options ?

He’s mainly played wide for a long time now. Musah - Bate Palmer Is the best mix I’ve seen. Musah and Palmer absolutely nailed on. Still very much waiting to see more from Azeez. Not that a hypothetical strongest XI really matters cause this group aren’t going to play together in a tournament again.
Can't say I have seen it him a lot recently but just stayed on the bench during the u17 Euros when fit and last batch of u18 friendlies was used in the first game and then stayed on the bench the next 2 games (only player to do that). It now seems he has fallen back down to u18s for City ?
I think someone said the U19 Euros have been moved to an even worse slot in the calendar so you'd expect withdrawals
Haven't they also made qualification into a sort of league format before the final tournament? I could be wrong but I remember reading about it in a UEFA article.
General trend is that they mainly stay together as U17 + U18s but then they’re split up massively from then on. Maybe things will slow a bit now and age groups will stay together a bit longer, but the U19 Euros will continue to be a bit of a crapshoot.
Forget the actual tweet. Just appreciating Miguel Azeez showing off. 1184747093912670208 is not a valid tweet id
Agree about Madueke. I thought he was the best talent at this age but PSV moving him out wide has been a bad move for him. He said in an interview I read he discussed it and agreed to it because they felt it gave him more of a chance of breaking through but hes not slick enough as a dribbler. Hes always played number 8 or 10 and looks far more comfortable there
Musah did an incredibly unnecessary but brilliant nutmeg in the first half. Slowed to a walk, let himself get closed down having picked the ball up off Mengi and then just suckered the poor guy into a 1v1.

It's been a while, but Ben Elliott made his comeback from injury today, ten mins in a win against Norwich.
