Not full strength. Their U19s who played our U19s this afternoon had most of their standout 01s + 02s in it. The likes of Redan, Ihatteren, Gravenberch etc
Mees Bakker Vincent Shippers Liam Van Gelderen Ramon Hendricks Terrence Douglas Wouter Burger Joshua Zirkzee Immanuel Pherai Elayis Tavsan Quiten Timber Vicente Besuijen to be specific. Tavsan, Hendriks, Timber, Burger + Van Gelderen were all played in the summer at the Euros. Zirkzee is at Bayern and has his fans, not sure if he was fit for the Euros or just not included.
Bakker, Schippers, Van Gelderen, Hendriks, Douglas, Burger (c), Zirkzee, Pherai, Tavsan, Timber, Besuijen was their team.
What do we think actually is the strongest line-up possible from this group? I'd have most of this side, with Greenwood up front, Amaechi taking his place in the next line, and probably Daley-Campbell ahead of Crowe. That aside, I'm not sure that Doyle is necessarily better than Anjorin, and the rest looks about as strong as we can put out.
It's definitely my favourite side i've seen from this age group. Greenwood, Jones, Saka, Laird, Garner, Ogbeta are instant selections for me (in that order). Same with Ashby-Hammond who i'm always super impressed by, but i'm also just a bit ignorant at keepers and haven't seen enough of his competition as opposed to others. Would also agree on Ameachi and your team in general. As with all of these age groups, there will be guys who we will feel stupid for not singling out in 12 months. I feel like John-Jules is a bit like Brewster, in that he gets judged harshly against very strong competition. Think he's filling out and turning into a very good no.9. The 8, I mentioned initially though are the ones I think are really impressive. Because we'll always them against the 000s, we'll probably always underrate them. When you go through the age group, it is pretty stacked.
Dammit! Was on both pages/threads at once. I blame the FA. I dont quite know why. But why not? Its always their fault
I think Cody Drameh may soon come into the equation (arguably could already be there) for the RB slot, if he continues the way he is.
Three out of three after they beat hosts France. Laird from a Curtis Jones set piece and Saka from the spot. They're having another four nation tournament at St. George’s Park next month, opposition hasn't been confirmed yet.
How highly do people rate Jimmy Garner? He's such a different type of player to the kind England normally produces. I know he didn't play in the last game but his passing oozes class.
I personally think hes a good prospect as a defensive playmaker a la carrick or jorghinio. My worry is as he moves through the age groups his lack of relative pace and athleticism will see him held back. Typically weve not done well nurturing that type of player. If i was his parents id be looking to move to france portugal or spain
Completely agree! We’ve often failed these kind of players, let’s hope we’ve learnt from past mistakes. We need players like this. Not just a team of athletes with boots on.
I’ve not seen much of him though. Anybody have a link to a recent full match of his? Is he likely to feature in the Carabao Cup?
