A bit harsh. They were obviously just rotating a lot and ensuring everyone gets minutes. He started McEachran + Gibbs-White together v Argentina which is hardly negative.
"This lad is everything!"Remember the name: Callum Hudson-Odoi!@kdkilbane77 saw the England and Argentina U18s in action over the weekend and one @ChelseaFC youngster stood out @eir #LetsMakePossible pic.twitter.com/1tibEvDAOK— Off The Ball (@offtheball) March 26, 2018
McEachran played well against Birmingham in the youth cup in mid-week - he was more "robust" in his play, as if he has been working on the physical side.
England U18 Player minutes in the PL ('99 born) Tom Edwards - Stoke City - 483 Josh Tymon - Stoke City - 162 Reiss Nelson - Arsenal - 82 Joe Willock - Arsenal - 68 Tyrese Campbell - Stoke City - 47 Edward Nketiah - Arsenal - 11
Yeah, he played against our 23s on Friday and 18s yesterday and was excellent in both. Latter wasn't broadcast live but the former was; might put one together if I get a chance.
do you have any Markanday videos, Brett? Whenever he plays, he always seems pretty involved in most good things.
https://streamable.com/7u873 If there's a criticism it's mainly that he doesn't look to pass forward early enough often enough (this is an area where Conor Gallagher, by comparison, is very impressive), but as a defensive presence and a destroyer, he's very good.
he reminds me of Lampard, in the way he moves and just aesthetically. Not particularly in terms of his skillset.
Thanks, much appreciated. Possibility of a long-term switch to centre-half, or do you think DM really is his position?
Nah, sorry. Spurs are useless when it comes to youth footage but you can see him here if you fancy watching our U17s, if you haven't already: When I first saw him I thought he was a little Mahrez-like but from seeing him more he likes to play inside a lot more than I originally thought. He lacks a bit of athleticism but has that initial burst to get away from markers and has good technical ability to go with it. A lot will depend on how he develops physically but he's an interesting player.
I think DM is his position. I could see Gallagher switching to CB tho, don't think he's good enough on the ball to play midfield at the top level (although Henderson does so who knows)
As Hudson-Odoi, Foden, Sessegnon and Sancho are all 00s that have been promoted, what 4 players would you like to see replace them? Personally, I think Lamptey from Chelsea and Brandon Williams have had outstanding seasons, possibly Mason Greenwood, Curtis Jones (to get promoted) and Taylor Richards, when he finally returns from injury to get a shout. Any other contenders...
Lamptey is a very quick right back and has gone from strength to strength as the season has gone along. He could well get a call up before long. But he won't be replacing the four players you mentioned as he plays in a different position from them. Are there any more u18s games left, this season, for him to be called up to?
Old names such as Austin samuels, Jamie Soule, Theo Hudson, Rob Strachan - how are these getting on and would they at the stage now to get another call up?
Bit worried about Gomes to be honest. He doesn't seem to have the drive or the hunger to really push himself and take responsibility for results. With the ability he has he should be doing more I think.
