Anyone see the penalty shoot-out? Sounds controversial, to say the least...

What a nonsense end to that Quarter final! Ireland keeper saves the final spot kick from the Dutch but gets sent off for being off his line! I'm sorry but that's very harsh imo. I've been saying for a while in football have refs abandoned the rule of encroachment because it happens all the time without being punished and yet the Irish keeper gets punished here, really harsh imo. I get it if it's a consistently pulled up but it's not! Actually felt sorry for the Irish there.

I've never seen that happen before. He's barely even off his line. Just let him retake it, the yellow card is so excessive.

I think we can do okay today. Just don't want to get embarrassed.

Apparently we're now tied with Spain for the most amount of U17 semifinal appearances with nine.

Duncan's touch hasn't been the best in this first half.

We have got better though after a shaky start, played some quite good stuff at times.

It’s been pretty similar all tournament. Lack of control or composure centrally but our attacking options are great to watch with space or when 1v1. Quite a bit to be optimistic about I would say even if the overall play is pretty messy.

Last 15 minutes in the first half we looked bright. Now in the first ten minutes of the second half I think overall we've been the better side.

That's a shame Anjorin seemed to cramp up and now gone off, I was quite impressed with him, Looks an interesting prospect.

Weird that Cooper chose to bring on EDB instead of Coyle for Anjorin. That's nearly every game now where an AM or winger has gone off due to injury and Coyle hasn't got any minutes at all this tournament. Am I missing something? Feel very bad for him tbh.

Not quite sure why all of a sudden we have decided to drop deeper.

Penalties it is... A bit fortunate in the final minute as Holland had a great chance to win the game.

Not sure we could've done more in the penalty shootout. The Dutch pens were all nearly perfect except the one where Asby-Hammond got a touch on it. He also kept diving to his left from 1-4. To be fair most of our pens were saveable, but the Dutch keeper went the wrong way every time except the last.

That's the second year in a row we've been knocked out in penalties in the U17 European finals. I think we held our nerve well and didn't let the pressure get to us. The Dutch were just a bit better.

Oh well, it's always a lottery with Pens and to be fair there was some great pens from both sides until our miss. Ashby-Hammond will probably be kicking himself for that one that got away. Bad luck but that's the way it goes. Well done to The Dutch.

Ah, a shame. Still, a decent tournament all around. They competed pretty comfortably with this Dutch side, despite the players missing. This group isn't the 2000s, but they're still a match for any other nation.

My personal standouts from our tournament would be Saka, Laird, Tulloch and Amaechi. A few others did well too. Considering the lack of a competitive schedule, the pull outs, injuries and suspensions they faced more adversity than any other group I can think of. We didn't really have a pure finisher either.
