England U-17 Discussions Thread #3 (2007 born)

There's many more British lads abroad it's just hard to find them

 

I can't say I've seen them but I do know they were a regular part of the England age group squads and are no longer getting picked for a while now (England did pick Moore whilst he was at Lens so do pick players playing abroad) so evidently in the the FA's opinion at least they have not progressed. Certainly neither seems to have been in the first team squad unlike all our current under-20 squad who have played first team football by now.

Just on the subject of our lads playing abroad, came across this tweet by Danny Collinge, I can't find the game details but I guess he must be coming on nicely?

The sad truth about youth football in England..[emoji1532]

 

Hearing this just supports the idea of British lads going abroad.

 

But how do you incentivize that? The only answer I can see is to cap their wages in England, because none of them are going to take a chance abroad while they can make tens of thousands of pounds a week playing reserve football with the hollow promise of chances in the Premier League.

well deserved. easily the best player at the tournament Imo

 

There's been two other England golden player awards:

Rooney (2002) and Wickham (2010).

 

Roberts arguably should have had one in 2014 too.

 

Yeah I remember being disappointed about that. He didn't light it up like Sancho did though.

 

McEachran deserved it more than Wickham IMO.

 

Nah. Wickham was our match/tournament winner.

 

McEachran and Chabolah were the best players, then Barkley.

I thought Will Keane looked a cracking prospect at that age - so unfortunate the inuries he's received he's not going to fulfil that potential as he looked much the more talented twin.

Anyone know of any 16's that have been recently released by there clubs? Big/biggish names?

 

Dishon Bernard from Chelsea but he's moved to United

 

Wouldn't be surprised if the next call up is Tariq Hinds of Spurs he's really standing out ATM.
