Apparently Madueke has an offer from PSV that he's considering. Will be funny if after the last 15 years, the young players start going the other way to play for Ajax + PSV.
He doesn't have an offer as far as I know. He has been at PSV for talks, no one knows how far towards signing a contract the talks are but PSV are interested in him.
Haven't watched the second match back in full but saw some good stuff in the extended bits; Roberts looked good when he moved to CB at half time, Hodge was busy and smart covering a lot of midfield, and Harris looked like a young Loftus-Cheek with muscular runs from box to box.
Also, was a good test against a physical and fast Cameroon side who definitely let our guys know they were there. Some quite physical tackles, especially in the second half.
England leading Brazil 3-1 at the moment Ben Knight with the third Joe Gelhardt with the second, not sure who scored the first.
I can only find the first half at the moment, not sure if anyone can have any luck finding the second half 2/2? Maybe I'm to quick and they haven't released it yet.
After watching the first half, thought overall we were the better side, maybe didn't create to many chances but better in possession of the ball. Maybe Brazil we're better last 10 mins of the half. Incidentally, thought the Brazil keeper was lucky to get away with just a yellow. Even though it was quite far out Gelhardt would have had a free shot on an open goal if he wasn't cynically taken out.
Who are you all impressed by so far? Do you think they’ll pick strongest side or rotate sill for tomorrow’s game?
I only watched the Cameroon game but Hodge stuck out to me. Good technique and awareness, and perhaps just as importantly combative and quick to recover possession too. He looks like a proper CM.
he looks alright, although I'm not sure he can escape pressure against very good teams. That's the improvable area of the pitch IMO; wasn't totally convinced by Musah either, at least in the game vs Russia. Really like some of the attacking players, especially Carvalo.
England started really well but since the opening 20, they've been completely pinned back. A few saves by Sanneh and some French slices have kept them in the game. The front four are really struggling to get on the ball at all. Hodge is a funny one, could be Verratti, could be Rossiter.
Think the French are just generally sharper and hassling our lads everytime we get on the ball and out muscling us with any 50/50, saying that some of our passing has been off.
