He's a 2003, isn't he? Has he actually played up a year for England yet? I can't keep track. I know he has for Scotland.
The Chelsea tiny tot Tariq Lamptey impressed with a few lively bits of play when he came on for the last 20 minutes for the u18s on Friday, and set a goal up for Mason Mount.
I wanted to ask, has anyone seen Harrison Sohna of Villa play? If so, what's he like and how good? I've just seen that he was included along with a derby lad and it's nice to see those kinds of clubs have more inclusion. (I put this in the u15s forum, but was reminded he's no longer classed as an u15)
And there's a game against us right? Maybe this is an indication who he wants to play for in the foreseeable future.
This was almost the decider at this stage : England or Scotland. It is where he is based and spent his recent years. Understandable.
would he even get in our U16s on merit? He still is very young. I think there still may be more push and pull with him to come. Seems like he's just keeping his options open and making the most of all opportunities he's offered right now.
He can bounce between the two until he's at U17 level and that's entirely what I expect him to do. Scotland were calling him up at U16 and we were calling him up at U15 throughout last season so this doesn't really seem like a new development. The next big landmark will be him either accepting or rejecting a Scotland U17 call up (because that offer will surely come a year or two before an England U17 call up). If he does reject it I'd hope they keep it quiet to protect him, especially while he's still eligible for younger age groups. With that in mind we may well not hear any meaningful news about him until 2019....
I think his parents stated he would continue playing for both countries at youth level, which he can do for the next couple of seasons. The fact he's picked for Scotland in this squad wouldn't necessarily be a rejection of England and I can't imagine Scotland would ever have considered not naming him in their squad.
Interesting that Kane Patterson has been called up - younger brother of Phoenix I believe (one of Spurs' new scholars, made a few U18 apps this season) didn't know he was eligible.
Feel sorry for the kid, too young to be having this pressure exerted on him. Going to take some very good parenting to keep him progressing and stable. Good luck to him in Scotland
