Madisson should be brought in. Prowse is a very limited player

Very stupid of Chelsea, but for once I have some sympathy for Sarri. He said before this game that the players really needed to be resting rather than jetting off to the US, and only a few days beforehand he was talking about the need to manage RLC's body carefully. Quite possible that he was leaned on to use senior players over reserves too.

Let's just hope that it's not a six-month job. Perhaps RLC will only miss the summer.

Haven't seen too much of Ward-Prowse.
Besides having a wand of a right foot, what kind of player is he?

Is he essentially the English Seb Larsson?

He's got 2 good qualities, free kicks and corner deliveries. Apart from that, very average player abit like Henderson was years ago when everyone used to knock him.

Maybe I’m being a bit unfair but I think that’s a pretty good description tbh, English Seb Larsson.

So Redmond is in. He's been great since Hasenhüttl arrived. But Delph?! When did he last play for City?

Delph is way out of favour at City. Living off of his last England game in November (as is Lingard.)

Disappointed not to see Grealish and Shaw in there.

Delph has not even kicked a ball for city and gets picked..
on top of the situation that he was the one who injured Kane.

Madison is top of the premier league "chances created" rank..
that is the type of player you need .

When asked about Shaw, the journalist asked Southgate if it was a tough decision to leave him out ‘ No ‘ he replied, lol. In fairness he did sum it up by stating how good Chillwell and Rose have been playing and Shaw has slipped behind them which I think is fair.

Yeah, I think he is tbh, always good to have in the dressing room at City apparently plus he’s good cover for Centre midfield and left back if needed. Not saying I would agree to picking him but that’s probably the logic behind it I guess.

I’m not overjoyed to see Redmond there to be honest. Attacking midfield is looking a little light.

Have to admit and I know this is controversial but I think I would rather see Grealish in there ahead of Lingard at this current time. As soon as he’s in the Premier League ( next season regardless surely! ) he will be in the Squad anyway, so might as well have a look at him in the Provisional Squad.

I wonder if Grealish’s play off final influenced Southgate’s decision.

What is the need to have both Trippier and TAA in the same squad? Especially considering Gomez is now fit.

In the absence of Hudson-Odoi Redmond is the best choice for a winger substitute.

Would have chosen maddison ahead of Redmond or Delph. Why not give the likes of foden or bisakka a chance. Forget the under 21 euros. Other than that great strength in depth considering odoi and cheek are out long term. Thought AOC would have been in. The usual negative numpties on BBC have your say. We still lack a central midfielder who can put his foot on the ball and pass or take a man on

I think the squad is understandable. It’s been pretty obvious for a while which U21 eligible players will be going with the seniors and the others that will be at the U21 finals.

Hopefully there are no or very few pull outs.

On reflection, only real grumble is that we should have gone with an AM instead of Redmond.

Which four can you see getting cut?

Ward-Prowse, Delph, Trippier, Winks, Lingard and Redmond look vulnerable for various reasons.

I think for the type of injury it is, six months might be on the more optimistic side of estimates. It's the sort of thing that has derailed careers in the past.
