On paper Mid'land should win easily, but if Hobro manages a point they move up on the table from 13 (second last) to 12. The last two play each other though, so it's unlikely to last (Hobro has the worst GD in the league).

Hobro is terrible. Already down 0-1 at the end of the first half and lucky to be still in the game.

Hobro lost 1-2 and if Vejle (last) beats Vendyssel (two above last) tomorrow, which is not unlikely, Hobro will go back to last.

The Hobro goal did not involve Sabbi, but it was a beautiful move by Babayan.

As you can see in the link right below :
    https://www.bold.dk/fodbold/danmark/superligaen/

... then Sabbi and Hobro are last in relegation group 2, with no way of escaping the relegation play-off's, being 14 points behind with only 3 games left to play .. but the good news is that they have done fairly well in their first 3 games and that their opponents won't be all too motivated, not really having much to play for in the last 3 games, so perhaps Hobro could keep earning points which is always good for the team-spirit and could build some self-confidence before the actual play-off's against one of the two bottom teams from group 1.

In relegation group 1. Vejle seem to be in great form, though they at first seemed quite lost at the bottom of the table, but now suddenly got a chance to escape, while especially Horsens on the other hand are getting spanked and seem to have lost the plot and all their self-confidence, playing like headless chickens. So Hobro should hope that Horsens are going to be their first opponent in the play-off's ... and also that both AGF and Vejle are going to spank SønderjyskE who also seem to be in terrible shape at the moment.

Just to clarify ... the two 3rd placed teams in relegation group 1 and 2 are going to face each other home and away in the play-off's and the winner will finish 11th and stay in the Superliga, while the loser is going to face the 3rd placed team from the NordicBet Liga in yet another home and away play-off, in hope of escaping relegation and staying in the Superliga.

The two 4th placed teams in relegation group 1 and 2 are going to face each other home and away in the play-off's and the loser will suffer relegation, while the winner is going to face the 2nd placed team from the NordicBet Liga in yet another home and away play-off, in hope of escaping relegation.

Both Sabbi and Cappis got benched, but Emmanuel played 20 minutes in the end, in a defeat at home to Randers, 1-2.

Hobro is easily the worst team in the league and it's going to take some luck to survive the playoff. The ugly part of it is that I have the clear feeling that if they were any better, our guys wouldn't have got so many minutes.

Well, the 2½ Americans playing for Hobro Sabbi, Cappis and also partly Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati (Both parents are Danish but he apparently has a dual Danish-American citizenship because he was born in the USA and also has some family living there, see links below), still got the opportunity to finish 3rd in relegation group 2, but they do ned an away win against AaB Aalborg in their last game, while they also need Vendsyssel to lose their last game to Randers for this to happen... In any case not all is lost and obviously this last win is good for their self-confidence before the final relegation play-off's.

And though their defense seem rather poor, they now finally have their very best player Pål Alexander Kirkevold back in top shape. He was Superliga top-scorer last season :
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017–18_Danish_Superliga#Top_goalscorers

... but then suffered an injury and was in need of ankle surgery and so has been out most of this season, but is now finally in top shape, which in the end could save them from relegation. but it's not going to be easy... The top teams in the NordicBet Liga are just as good as the bottom teams in the Superliga as we also saw last season when Vejle and the 2nd and 3rd placed NordicBet Liga teams (Esbjerg and Vendsyssel) won their play-off's and promotion to the Superliga...

    Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati :

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...ive-work-thread.1987805/page-19#post-34911749

Just adding to the links above, then in the summer of 2014, on a late Sunday evening, Vito was visting his parents, but on his way home he remembered that he forgot to buy groceries and was in need to go shopping in the local Netto supermarket just before they were about to close up. When Vito was packing his goods, the very last customer reached the checkout, and he noticed that her American credit card was denied (probably not having a PIN number which is mandatory in Denmark), so Vito gallantly offered to pay for the few bottles of mineral water she was trying to buy (as most Danes probably would have done). He later discovered in a newspaper that the woman was Jessica Miller, the girlfriend of the Danish Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich who said in the interview :

“People are extremely accommodating. My girlfriend was in Irma a few days ago, and her American credit card didn't work when she was going to buy water and I was in Stockholm. Then there was a stranger who helped her pay. People are simply so nice and helpful.”

Vito recognized the picture of the woman and knew it was her, but that Ulrich apparently mistook Netto to be an Irma grocery store.

    AaB Aalborg 1-1 Hobro IK
    1-0 Kasper Risgård (46)
    1-1 Pål Alexander Kirkevold (81)
    Attendance : 5,075

    Hobro line-up (4-4-2)
Jesper Rask - Jesper Bøge, Yaw Amankwah, Rasmus Minor, Nicholas Gotfredsen - Emmanuel Sabbi, Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati, Jonas Brix-Damborg, Edgar Babayan - Martin Mikkelsen, Pål Kirkevold.

    Subs :
Martin Mikkelsen < Julian Kristoffersen (45+5)
Rasmus Minor < Mathias Haarup (63)
    Jonas Brix-Damborg < Mikkel M.P. (70)

    Bench :
Adrian Kappenberger, Jacob Tjørnelund, Christian Cappis, Sebastian Grønning.

Though Hobro top-scorer Pål Alexander Kirkevold managed to score yet another goal, it was not enough to secure an away win against AaB Aalborg in the last game of relegation group 2 ... still, a 1-1 away result is not in itself that bad and a win would not have changed anything, because Vendsyssel managed a 0-0 draw at home against Randers... So Hobro finish last in their group and are now to face Vejle from relegation group 1 in the play-off's

Heads up: Sabbi starts in 30 minutes for survival, with Cappis on the bench.

They need to win by 2 goals away, after losing 0-1 at home to Vejle. If they can't, they'll become the #6 and #7 Yanks relegated this season.

It's over, they saved themselves for now.

One more home-away series, against the #2 from the First Division (second tier). If they win that one, they stay in the Superliga.

Addendum: +The Baroque System in Denmark+

Teams 1 to 6 play the Championship Tournament to determine the Champs (also going to the UEFA Champions) and the #2 & #3 going to the Europa League. #4 goes to the Europa League Playoff (against the winner of a 4-team playoff involving the #1s and #2s of the Relegation Tournament groups).

Teams 7 to 14 play the Relegation Tournament in two groups of four. #3s & #4s of each group go to the Relegation Playoff.
--The two #3s face each other, winner stays in the top division (Superliga), loser plays #3 from second division (named "first division" just to make things simpler). Winner there goes to the Superliga, loser gets relegated/stays in second div.
--The two #4s face each other, loser gets immediately relegated and #1 from the second division takes its place. Winner (Hobro today) faces the #2 from the second division and the winner goes to the Superliga, loser gets relegated/stays in second div.

The #2 from the second division now facing Hobro is likely to be Viborg, a tough challenge.

There is only one round of games left in the NordicBet Liga and only two teams fighting for 1st and 2nd place, so Hobro is either going to face Silkeborg or Viborg, with Viborg being the most likely, not least because Silkeborg face a mid-table team that has nothing left to play for this season, while Viborg face the 3rd placed team that still need a win to secure their 3rd place so they will be in the play-off's against Vendsyssel for the last Superliga spot

The Superliga is going to change from next season, because it's to be reduced from 14 to 12 teams, so teams 1 to 6 will still be playing in the Championship Tournament next season, while Teams 7 to 14 play a Relegation Tournament where the 3 bottom teams are relegated and only one team from the NordicBet Liga win promotion, so no relegation play-off games next season.. only Europa League play-off's ... but obviously, this year is the season you want to escape relegation when only one team is able to win promotion next season.
