Well, in EH's case it was just a bad roll of the dice. Had he stayed at Fulham he would also be on the books of an EPL team this year. And would have had a better chance at playing a bit, I think. Sometimes gambles work, sometimes they don't. But he's also played plenty since then for a young player. It just would be more satisfying (to me anyway) if he had a settled home where he was a regular contributor.

I have not been able to find anything about a loan, but here's a picture of EH training with the first team, from Jan 26th post on the club website.
Re: Drinkwater. Cannot avoid wondering how his ancestors got that as family name. In a village where everybody drank beer, were they the odd teetotalers? Anyway, Rangers fans still remember Emo, but they remember his mom even more. Weird. Still, from what I read in their forums, they wouldn't mind getting him back.
The internet says that the name is basically a millennium-old joke. "In the Middle Ages weak ale was the universal beverage among the poorer classes, and so cheap as to be drunk like water, whereas water itself was only doubtfully potable. The surname was perhaps a joking nickname given to a pauper or miser allegedly unable or unwilling to afford beer, or may have been given in irony to an innkeeper or a noted tippler. Compare French Boileau, German Trinkwasser." https://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=drinkwater

AFC Bournemouth's U21 can field unlimited overage reserves in the Central League, a competition they have never won. Although this season they're not participating in it, the next they should field a team either there or in the PDL. Otherwise they are participating in the reserves Cup, and have made the finals in the South Division (beat Shrewsbury Town reserves a few days ago). I guess Emo can play in the final, whenever it happens.
Honestly if I was him, I would move back to the MLS. With Berhalter in charge, he'd be given a fair shot at Nat appearances. He needs a consistent run of play. He's 22 with just around 50 first team appearances, while being a pretty finished product for the past three years. He always *could* stay in England/continental Europe, but at this point doing that and still not getting playing time is a risk that I worry about for him. The level of MLS keeps on rising IMO even with all the expansion. Coming back, putting his head down, could still result in a leap back to England in a 2-3 years time. Just my two cents.
They are happy to pay his salary. They had some injuries. He's insurance. It's a drag - too good to be too far from the home field, but not good enough to get on it.
If I were him (or any player), I would forget about Nat appearances at this point in his career. If/when he plays well for his club, Nat appearances will follow.
oh I agree. I was only pointing out that under Klinsmann moving to the MLS would most likely signal the end of his potential for Nat appearances whereas I doubt that will be the case moving forward. Most of all I think he needs to play and right now the MLS could be the perfect storm of level and opportunity to get his career back on track.
No argument with that, but has there been any evidence over the last 18 months that Emo was willing to tell Howe "PT or a transfer please"? There hasn't, which is why we can expect him to moulder in the reserves until the end of the season and go on another loan in Scotland in August. Sadly
