Would have been the third for the core group of Bravo-Medel-Vidal-Alexis. But as in previous world cups it would still be dependant on the injuries of key players. One of the common denominators of Copa America 2015 and 2016 was that we were missing no key players. I think for 2016 we were missing subs only. In the 2010 World Cup, S.America's top goalscorer Suazo was missing most matches due to injury... I think they tried to force him against Brazil int he round of 16... but I can't remember. In the 2014 World Cup, by the time we reached Brazil, both Vidal and Medel (absolute key member of our team) were playing "infiltrated" with heavy doses of painkillers, carrying serious injuries. Vidal fresh from the operating table. In the end both had to be taken off because of the pain. If it affects a team like Brazil, who were missing Silva and Neymar against Germany... the effect was so much more for Chile who do not have the depth to replace these loses. To go far in a cup run, luck is an important factor as well... and given the age of our players I would not have been surprised to see a few key injuries this time around as well.
