After collecting an unprecedented 3 pts from Equador away Brasil receives 3rd place Colombia in Manaus. The recent games against Colombia have been very heated and I don't expect a different game here. In our most recent encounters we beat them in the WC, a friendly, and the Olympics while they beat us in 2015 CA (group phase). Colombia comes from a 2 x 0 win at home versus Venezuela which marked their 3rd consecutive win in WCQ. The last 2 WCQ games at home vs Colombia have ended 0 x 0.

I expect Colombia to play conservative posing Tite with a different challenge compared to the Equador game where Brasil had plenty of space in the final third. While the 3 volante formation proved effective against Equador, it will be interesting to see if Tite chooses a more offensive setup at home without sacrificing much defensive shape (although I expect him to repeat the formation from the Equador game). The idea of a mid of Casemiro, RA, and Paulinho doesn't strike me as one that can provide consistent offensive support.

We can only hope it won't be like that again... Maybe with some Tite magic we will at least win the game with no injuries or suspensions.

Conmebol should book a strong ref for this that way the nonsense gets cut out early.

In the game vs Equador we didn't commit too many unnecessary, we'll have to see if that same attitude carries over to the Colombia game.

Colombians seem to be getting dirtier by the game. Although we are also not innocent as well( but I feel they are worse). I was shocked to see their Olympic team repeating their senior team's shenanigans as well. Hopefully we get a strong ref and Neymar doesn't lose his shit again.

Why? Paulinho will herd Colombia's players so Casemiro can make easy, clean tackles. Paulinho will cut off the passing lanes so Colombia's players will be forced into making harder passing decisions. If Colombia presses us too much and tries to play rough, they'll get burned when Paulinho makes a surprise run as a reliable passing option.

I'm more worried about the heat and humidity of Manaus, it actually benefits Colombia more than us!!

Paulinho actually herds the anacondas over to Casemiro, who captures them with ease.

Looks like Cuadrado is trying to start some shit!!:x3:

    By Tim Stillman 2016-09-06 13:24:38

Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado has stoked the fires ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Brazil tonight by suggesting that Neymar will try to provoke Colombian players. Speaking in a press conference ahead of the match in Manaus, Cuadrado suggested that the Barcelona man would attempt to rile Colombia.

“We can not betray our style of play,” the Juventus man said, “We have to be aware of Neymar and not fall for his provocation.”

The teams have endured several fiery encounters since Neymar was injured by a challenge from Christian Zuniga in an ill tempered World Cup quarter-final in 2014. Cuadrado was then sent off for persistent fouling on Neymar when the countries met in a friendly in Miami in September 2014.

Neymar was handed a four match ban for his conduct after the final whistle when the Colombians defeated Brazil in the 2015 Copa América, whilst the Barcelona forward was fouled a grand total of 11 times when the teams met at the Olympics last month.

Cuadrado also suggested that Colombia would need to play a possession based game in the humidity of the Amazon, “We must hold the ball, the high humidity will not be an excuse for us,” he concluded.

Seems to me that they are nervous to encounter a Paulinho-led Brazil side for the first time since the WC.
