I was talking if they went and used the bracket system after the group stage. We've seen those shenanigans In the GC and other competitions I'm stating it would have been no different.
I think they expected Mexico and USA to both be in first place in their respective groups and, hence, wouldn't face each other until the final. That obviously didn't happen this time (or in the last Gold Cup). But yes, CONCACAF generally tends to have Mexico and USA teams avoid each other in group stages.
Only time they "care" is when it comes to the GC and what teams will draw the most money depending on location. So don't be surprised when we end up with Honduras in Group A, since two of those game will be in Texas.
*Clayton Bisby voice* This is Trump's America now, boy! No Hondurans and Salvadorans in Texas by the time the GC comes around! Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness, if CONCACAF were really chasing the money then I don't see why they wouldn't put Mexico and USA in the same group; they'd both more than likely pass the group stage and then face off one more time in the final.
North America though. So they will prefer them over the CA. Money grabbing at its best. Im guessing you would still go to the game lol You cant risk the elimination of one of them early. Also, if theyre in the same group, they might meet in the semis instead.
