Very impressive. I would hope he stays put with USA first before joining ES, seeing as he has the skills to be noticed by USA.
agree with Grimm. Hes at the u20 level, hes gotta join us by now. I hate watching these type of college/HS vids. Most players can't really play at those teams. and not to be racist, but white boys...well...lol
You're talking to someone who prefers the Salvadoran-Americans represent USA first and switch over to ES if it doesn't work out, and I don't want our NT's to have too many Americans, but if Pineda really wants to switch over so soon then I won't be upset at all. The only prerequisite, really, is that he's better than who we have right now.
our next u20's are lost. We do have a couple of studs, but kinda youn (2 Fas players, a metapan player, and an Alianza player are the only ones that come to mind). I know we dont want to flood ES with US players, but we definitely need help with our depth.
I know, and I unfortunately agree; the U-17's this year were just terrible, so I'm not expecting much when the next U-20's starts playing next year. With that said, I'll be more relaxed towards the number of expats in our next U-20's cycle. We've got a few 97'ers and 98'ers abroad that can be potential options; from the top of my head Rene Siguenza from Italy, Alvaro Fey from Germany, Edson Elias from Mexico and several Americans in MLS academies.
I don't believe the U17s were that bad they just had a cardboard box for a coach. The old mod boss kept up with the youngsters better than us and he knew that the line-up for game two screamed tie and it cost us. Also I'm not a big fan of those guys representing the US first only to jump ship because they were tossed aside makes us look like a recycling plant. If they want to play for us make them a pretty big priority IMO.
"cardboard box for a coach". You're a savage; had me laughing for a good 30 seconds. Cusca hasn't been back all year, but Guanaco returned recently and his dedication to keeping up with youngsters has been invaluable. But we would still be considered a team of USMNT rejects for as long as we continue to accept American players, regardless of whether we were their first choice or not. If they want to play for us, then they are expected to be better players than what we already have. If Oscar Sorto decided he now wants to play for ES, he has to be the best right back we have. If Amando Moreno decided he now wants to represent ES, he has to be best striker we have and is guaranteed to score goals when we need him too.
Don't get me wrong if they want to switch that's fine, I just don't think they "need" to play for the US first. They aren't rejects if they haven't played for a NT prior.
I can agree with that. Right now we have Sorto, Moreno, Flores, Roldan and Perez who are all in USA's radar, while Gerson Umana wishes to represent USA. I'd be over the moon if one or more of these players eventually become USMNT regulars and also become the next Hugo Perez, but I think it's safe to say that we can expect a few of those players to switch over to ES.
IMO, our u17's shouldn't have any players outside of ES. We can start calling in US players or whatever at the u20 level
Maybe and I mean maybe keepers but the ones being produced in the US I know they haven't looked that great but the ES ones aren't much better.
Unless it's a Salvadoran playing abroad, then I agree. I felt like Rene Siguenza from Italy could've been called-up to the U-17's. Maybe he'll make an appearance for the U-20's. If we're talking U-23's, then I prefer Adolfo Menendez Jr and Rolando Morales to Carlos Canas.
Ruben claims the Italian 5th division (where both Siguenza brothers play) is on par with LMF, and I took it with a grain of salt. Canas, Morales and Menendez were all eligible to play in next year's Olympics. Rene is a 98'er, so he was eligible for this year's U-17's and will be eligible for the next U-20's.
Even worse! Just because it's italy, doesn't mean those teams are much better. The top 3, definitely. But the 4th, probably on par. the 5th no way. With GK's, we seem to have very good ones at every level...except the next u20s.
With the way our U-17's performed, we unfortunately do have to look abroad for potential U-20 players. The good news is that, as I mentioned before, there are few 97'ers and 98'ers abroad that we could look at, like Rene and Fey-Rivas from Europe, Edson Elias from Mexico and several Americans in MLS academies. They may very well not be any better than who we already have, but it's still worth inviting them to train with the U-20's and see how they go.
This is something i agree upon. We don't seem to have many players doing much in the reserve league or u20 league either

Good, because that squad was disastrous.
Can't really call them that especially when the coach was an imbecile thinking you can defend a 1-0 lead for 90 minutes and not have any of your good attacking players on the pitch until after the goal came. They did the first part of the job sadly they were forcefully handicapped in the second.
First friendly between Honduras and El Salvador U-20 NTs ended in a 1-1 draw. ES scored via Jonathan Aguilar in the first half, but Honduras clawed back and ended up tying the game with a goal from sub, Mario Flores. Next friendly will be behind closed doors on the 25th.
Looks like it's not only guys showing up to these things and I'm glad that the girls are also showing up to these things.
