Vote for El Pescado (...or not) as he was nominated to the "The World's Most Popular Footballer Amongst Currently Active Players in 2011" title by the IFFHS: http://www.iffhs.de/?b002ec70a804f4cd003f09

    Voting closes 15th December 2011.

Fecha 1 Liga de Ascenso: Veracruz 1-0 Pumas Morelos, FT.

Carlos Ruiz scores the winning goal, in the last minute according to LaRed.

All Ruiz does is score in every league, in every system. How ********ing legendary would it be if he lifts Veracruz to the 1st division single handedly?

I wish he'd bring that scoring to EVERY NT game...not just when we play crappy teams.

Really? Do you remember the 2006 WC qualifying campaign. He probably had one of the best WCQ campaigns in the history of CONCACAF.

    This is true.

Between the 2002 and 2006 WCQ campaigns, he scored 5 goals against Costa Rica, 1 against Mexico, 2 against Canada, 2 against Honduras, and 1 against the U.S.

Overall, Ruiz has scored 25 goals in 30 WCQ matches, for NT all-time second best 0.80 GPM ratio ("Pinula" Contreras scored 5 goals in 6 WCQ matches during 1958-1962 WCQ).

During 2010 WCQ El Pescado couldn't score as usual precisely because teams knew Guatemala's entire attack was based on getting the ball to him and they succeeded at neutralizing this. I'd like to think la Sele has different offensive weapons now.

This is what makes him so special. I don't think any player in CONCACAF has done more for their NT and some are always considered "Better" than Ruiz, not in WCQ.

I think Chicharito might change that though.
