From one big game to another Aris has to beat Olympiacos at home (or draw at least) on Wednesday or the Champions League dream is over before it begins
Tough one for Aris. Would have been a huge win for the club. A big positive for Freddy that Cuper played him in this match even if for only 10 minutes.
This is actually the role I see Freddy playing for the Nats, the late game supersub when we desperately need that moment of magic.
Yeah, I agreed. Even though it's only for 10min, getting in this BIG game must have been a HUGE boost for him.
Pity we didnt get the cup. Our movement was excellent though. Aris fans wrote history. Adu was great the minutes he played. Calvo and Meriem were negative. Epsecially Meriem side where Leto was doing anything he wanted. Congrats for your American, it was a positive appearance in a Cup final full of stress. Here's a video of Freddy's 10 minutes: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m86Tk8x6KDk"]YouTube- Freddy Adu, Panathinaikos - Aris (Greek Cup Final 2010)[/ame]
Hey thanks JD, nice feed, I felt like I was watching on my 1980 Telly with the stream I had. Adu looked good and too bad, they had their chances to score too. Did the media make a big deal of the Aris fans traveling in such large numbers ? Did they do so in a positive light or were they negative?
Its the first time a team loses a title but media speaks more than the winner. Our fans were unique really. Even Adu tweeted for us. He's definitely improving. His decisions are coming quicker, and his offensive positioning is slightly better. Its still going to take a few more months for Freddy to shed the rust though.
That wasn't a rusty performance. He did everything right, nothing wrong. It was essentially a perfect 10 minutes. And it wasn't all playing it safe, there was maintaining possession under heavy pressure. Let's check out the next one and assess the degree of rustiness there.
He certainly showed up for his ten minutes. Adu has the tendancy to shine in the big games (one reason I support him for the US Mens Team - but not this cycle). I just hope he starts to get more consistent minutes and more stuck in.
Jesus, I'd be happy if he got 10-15 minutes and a start every once in a while, it's these DNPs that kill me. He must have really dedicated himself in training after the DNP last week to get into this match of such importance.
Really? Who do we have better for the supersub role, Ching? Casey? Findley? Yeah those guys are a definite upgrade...
Despite the needlessly degrading approach of this "sit-on-his-butt-behind-a-computer-screen EXPERT". I essentially agree -- Adu is playing at a level higher than MLS and has shown he can compete and contribute for the USMNT, albeit in friendlies. With guys like Cunningham, Findley etc. not really demonstrating much, Adu is worth a look in camp.
Thanks for that stream! I was really happy with Adu's performance. Koke BLEW it in minute 84 ... but oh well, nice try. This performance should ensure Adu some real time in the playoffs.
