May the soccer gods look down with pity and swiftly and painlessly end our participation in this worthless competition. If nothing else, spare our ears from the inane "managers press conference" for yet another fruitless quest for a trophy.
Best we can realistically hope for with our Woodward ravaged and injury ravaged squad is to keep some sense of dignity in the scoreline. They might even put out one of their subs like that Aguero dude, meanwhile our sub striker is ....?
-----------------------Romero ----------Dalot---Bailly---Jones---Williams ------------------Garner---Galbraith ----Lingard/Chong---Mata---Gomes --------------------Greenwood The chances for this team are slim to none, but that's what I would like to see. This is a nothing game, where we're pretty much eliminated and if the guys selected can pull a miracle somehow, that would incredibly awesome for them. The game this weekend vs Wolves is the one that matters, one we have to win against a team we're directly competing with for 4th spot. A win would also be the perfect tonic to go with us signing Fernandes, going into a much needed break also.
The provisional squad for today's game: De Gea, Romero, Grant; Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Bailly, Lindelof, Maguire, Jones, Shaw, Williams; Fred, Gomes, AP, Matic, Lingard, Mata, James; Chong, Martial, Greenwood
Reasons why Ole wont field a weakened side: 1. He doesnt want to get embarrassed 2. The "winter break" is coming up, so the players can rest then. Or he can run them into the ground like he did last year 3. We're at home and it isnt the United way lol
City's XI: Bravo, Walker, Rodri, Otamendi, Cancelo, Gundogan,Mahrez, KdB, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero. Sound 🔛 to hear from Ole on his team selection, our approach to the game and today's transfer news 🔊#MUFC #CarabaoCup pic.twitter.com/aw239kWe1r— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 29, 2020
Fantastic saves from Dave to keep the score at 0-0. City really should have scored there. Dodged another bullet there with a possible foul from Maguire on Sterling, but it hasn't been called. City all over us so far.
I’m gonna lose my shit if I see another 50/50 ball in the air that Martial doesn’t even go up for. I get that he’s not that type of player but give some ********ing effort.
Watching this so far makes me wonder what the gameplan from Ole was and what was the point of picking a strong team today? Haven't threatened City at all so far. Only thing I can think of is trying to keep it close for a big push in the 2nd half? Don't buy it but it's the only thing that makes sense right now. And we're really fortunate not to be down also... And right on cue we score, lol: that's pretty actually. City all over us, our first threat on goal and we go ahead via Matic. Game on, lol... GAME ON. lingard needs to come out at half time. he's screwed up 2 or 3 break opportunities with heavy touches. he's awful.
Jesse Lingard almost cost us a goal. He's been costing us possession, it would be fitting that he kills another counter attack and they score from it. Luckily City were offside, but his giveaway, a heavy touch under minimal pressure, is mind blowing.
Its not like he's losing out to great defense either, he's just not good. Heavy touches, poor control, lack of vision. Ive had enough.
