http://www.dailynews.com/sports/201...rofessional-soccer-contract-with-club-tijuana He's a 98 who had been with Chivas USA's academy.
There's a retired Mexican player with the same name about twice his age. Anyone know if they're related?

There's an Edson Alvarado '98 who was on Nomads U18 team this season. Looks like he didn't go pro after all. Former Tijuana academy player Samuel Velazquez is on the same team. Kristoc Camacho is on the team too, another player who was reported to have signed with Tijuana but like Alvarado, it doesn't seem he actually did.
Listed as without a team (but photographed with a jersey) here: http://sub20.ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/121936/edson-eduardo-alvarado-torres
Just FYI, I've noticed that a lot of Tijuana players are listed as "sin registro" lately even when they are clearly still with the club and playing in games every weekend. That being said, Alvarado only made one appearance in the Apertura and hasn't shown up in the Clausura yet.
At present, Alvarado isn't listed as "sin registro," but he's also still not listed as having an appearance.
Here's the goal, though the club match report says a different player scored: http://sub20.ligamx.net/cancha/ver-...de-edson-eduardo-alvarado-torres-al-minuto-88
Edson Alvarado did double duty yesterday playing 31 minutes off the bench for Club Tijuana's Liga Premier team and then later in the day playing 17 minutes off the bench for the U-20 team. He started and went 70 minutes last weekend for the Liga Premier team. In the Apertura he made 11 appearances (3 starts) for the U-20 team scoring a goal and had 3 appearances (2 starts) for the Liga Premier team.
Alvarado is registered with Tijuana's first team and has been given #32. He's subbed into a few preseason friendlies so far.

One demerit to Tijuana for their terrible lineup graphic that doesn't tell us what position Alvarado played.
I was thinking this morning that we knew the full names of the players on the bench but not the starting lineup, which I assume was made up of mostly reserve players. Not a good way to help fans connect with the new folks.
Agreed. The match details on the Liga MX website indicates that Alvarado started at RB. However, I don't fully trust the lineup layouts that are published there based on what I've seen in the past.
