Re: Ecuador vs uruguay wed 10/14/09 yes agreed...most importantly, our players have to come through and prove their mental toughness...this game is going to cost both teams a lot of stress on that day...We've also never beaten Uruguay in Quito in the past 2 qualifiers, we've only squeaked out ties.

Forget Colombia. It would take a miracle for them to get in. Its between Ecuador, Uruguay and Argentina. Two of these teams get in. I am Ecuadorean and I have seen via satellite most of the games over a 20 yr period (I saw ECU play PARAGUAY personally in 1997 in Quito-WCQ game) and the one thing that resonates is that for some reason Ecuador ALWAYS has trouble with uruguay. Why is that? We should be able to beat them in Quito but we manage ties!??! Can someone give me some perspective as to why we will beat Uruguay this time at home? Well, they tied us the last two qualifiers....in the France '98 qualifiers we trashed them 4-0 The last two qualifiers we didn't play all out against Uruguay possibly because we where already qualified or only needed a tie to do so. This time around we need to go all out again and the players know it

I don’t have too much of a historical perspective like yourself other than we have probably the best talent we have ever had as a Country. Our team consists of players who are playing in the best leagues and top teams which I can not phantom has ever happened in the past. Not to mention the rise of LDU this has achieved the best results of any Ecua club team in history. So based on the level of competition our players are playing at, I feel confident that we are rewriting history! Ecuador 3-1 final score
