This is my first game in 2 years.....any good tailgates that would accept two crew orphans? Looks like we might get some rain tomorrow night and temp is suppose to drop like a rock, turning to snow flurries by late evening.
My wife just went on a 1 hour adventure looking for a clear and/or yellow poncho. I guess the OSU game wiped out most the stores around here. All she could find were orange, green, and red....which she wisely left at the stores. Might just give her a trash bag poncho for tomorrow
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...nference-final-just-one-more-positive-crew-sc When you guys get past Toronto, will you be adding seats to the stadium? Ala USMNT games. http://www.espnfc.com/world-cup-qua...out-world-cup-qualifier-vs-mexico-in-columbus 23,665.
Well... obviously, if we're going to win this series, we've got to do it in this leg. At home, with TFC (one of the best teams in league history, numbers-wise) missing two of its best players, it's crucial that we build up some kind of lead. I'd say two goals at a minimum. If we can't take care of business tomorrow, I don't fancy our chances away. Meram and Kamara need to be clinical with any chances we get. The thing that I'm most curious about is to see what kind of strategy TFC employs. Do they sit back and defend and counter, since they're on the road and shorthanded? Do they recognize that Columbus' best chance is in this match, and try to break their spirit by strangling the offense out of the joint? Or do they try to win the series before leg 2 even starts?
Direct from the Crew in my e-mail box--don't say you were not warned: MAPFRE Stadium looks forward to hosting the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Championship tonight. As always, we are in constant collaboration with law enforcement and Major League Soccer on security protocol. MAPFRE Stadium continues to value the safety and enhanced safety of all guests as its highest priority. As part of our commitment to provide the safest environment possible, out of an abundance of caution, enhanced security procedures including pat-down screenings will be in place for the match.
Although we had plans to set up in our traditional parking spot, and you are welcome to join us as our guests, I have long wanted to join the larger group - to meet some of you in person. Maybe we should do that today - since none of us really know for sure if we will get another chance. Also, we won't have the little ones today.
The game this season mid week May sans Giovinco where we lost 2-1, I recall being pretty incensed. It was a boring game that I think they were resigned to either losing or going for the draw. But Vasquez is an amazing player and Ricketts is very fast, and they scored twice, late, and we lost. I think that similar game plan would be smart for them. Stay organized and not give up anything and hit us on the break. They certainly should be feel confident in getting a result at BMO if this match is close at the end. We really just cant concede an away goal, unless we score like against NYCFC - and that's unlikely.
I'm leaving at 4 and should arrive in the lot around 6p with beer. I probably wont be moderating threads tonight so feel free to start a pbp and post match if you're watching at home.
Saw something on this in a retweet on Bernhardts' feed and thought it worth repeating. I'm not telling anyone how to act or live here but I urge everyone at the game tonight to be extra nice to the people working the game. Most of them feel as bad or worse than we do. They're on our side. They're us. Smile, say thank you, be so polite your mom would be proud. They know people are angry and they may get the vibe that we're angry at them by extension. Let's go out of our way to show them we're all in this together, and we appreciate them. Might even take a second to thanks any TFC fan you run into for coming down. If nothng else it'll blow their minds. Like Bluto said, Don't cost nothin'
Many have become friends. And I wonder if Gary (the gray-haired usher guy who would try to start cheers by stomping) will be there tonight. He was not at the last game (I wonder if he quit).
Fans of other clubs have been amazing in their support of the Crew during this whole mess. Even TFC fans. I think that most of them realize we're in this together: today it's Columbus, tomorrow it could be them. They also understand the history of the Crew, remember those US-Mexico matches, the importance of Lamar building Crew Stadium. I appreciate their vocal support more than I can express.
******** it! Just poured myself a BrewDog Punk IPA. Took the day off to do house projects, and I am now done working with the compound miter saw, so I figure it's safe to imbibe, right?
