If it included the Caribous of Colorado, it had to be 1978. I love the wood paneling....so 70's!

Jimmy Mac in the background there. Pele gave him his jersey after the game. Besides Pele's retirement, the game most remembered for Sounder goalie Tony Chursky's unfathomable gaffe......

Tifo seen at the game, "The Year Seattle Slew The Cosmos". How many know the meaning behind it?;)
Game was played at Civic Stadium in Portland, now the home of the MLS Timbers.

Yeah supposedly GK Tony Chursky was deaf in one ear and didn't hear his teammate that Steve Hint wasrunning towards him.

Yep, that was true. You an see that Chursky initially looked behind at least twice, but, must have thought Hunt was heading upfield, but, then....

Davey Butler, another one of those lower division English players who came to the states in the mid-seventies and became a fan favorite in Seattle.

40 Years ago today I was in attendance for Pele's Last Testimonial Game at Giants Stadium.

NY COSMOS beat Santos 2-1 with Pele scoring for the Cosmos in the first half before playing for his first club in the second. Attendance was 75,646..
