I also notice the people standing along the top, behind the seats. It is really difficult to convey the atmosphere that existed at Spartan Stadium then. I know I risk being identified as someone who continually "pines" for the good old days, but it was a special time (that lasted multiple seasons) that has yet to be duplicated. The only comparison is to think of the feeling and atmosphere of the 2003 playoffs, but having it an entire season (admittedly, the LA game would be the one off exception that arguably exceeds all). The players were part of the local community and the fans felt like they were part of the team...literally the 12th player at Spartan Stadium, every week, win or lose.
Man, those shorts apparently weren't high and tight enough for Liveric, so he had to roll them up at the waistband? That's something I have never seen anybody but a teenage girl do. The worm has sure turned on soccer gear since those days (thank god!!!)
Mark Liveric was always strange. He use to put body oil on his legs before games. I also think he even cried once because George Best wouldn't pass him the ball.
Just want to say this is the one thread on the Quakes page that I check regularly. I too don't want to seem looking like I pine for the old days as well, but as it was said here, the atmosphere at Spartan back then was electric win or lose. Thanks to all who post here. And I guess I now qualify as an old timer. Just turned 56 last month and got my first senior discount without asking (which I never do anyway lol)! Go Quakes!
