my idea, the front would have the eads logo on both ends and in the middle a large St. Louis and underneath a smaller typed version of the website. the back would have a fleur-de-lis on both ends and in the middle the motto. I always liked Sams idea of having the motto in French. My favorite motto is ne jamais baisser les bras which means never give up. ........................................... the front ...................Eads logo........... St. Louis.. .........Eads logo .............. ........................www.eadsbrigade.org ............................................... Back .............. .... .ne jamais baisser les bras ........
I think we should stick to English, I mean everyone already dogs on Real Salt Lake all the time. I don't see any need to be something we're not.
But we ARE French. At least historically - St. Louis was a French King. Look around - all the names you see are French. LaSalle Marquette Laclede Chouteau Carondelet Florissant Bellefountain Lemay Gravois Lafayette Our City symbol is the fleur dys lis Hell, even Lindbergh flew to Paris. We have the history to use a French motto
i like the idea of using a french logo... (i'm cajun french) But our motto "Een Draght Mackt Maght" means "In unity there is Strength", just to let you know.
Alternate motto for the back .............Dans La Vue Ce Doit Etre Bon Translation: In Sight It Must Be Right
Soulard, DeBaliviere, Creve Coeur, Des Peres...yeah, i'd say the French influence on our city is maybe just a tad stronger than the Spanish influence in Salt Lake City.
The grammatically correct translation "never give up", which really translates to "don't lower your arms", is ne baissez jamais les bras butchered pronunciation (nuh bezz-eh jha-mai lay brah)
Force is use for the strength of a building. Puissance is influential strength la puissance par l'unité butchered pronunciation (la pwee-sanse par loon-ee-tay)
It's bad French, but how about the rhythmic and rhyming, "Allez-y, St. Louis!" I can see some chest-beating to that one. (Ah-leh-zee, Sahn-Loo-ee!) ..but the "Saint Louis" part would be pronounced en francais.. Many of your typical French clubs have a similar chant, whether it's "Allez l'OM" or something similar. Even the French nats have a cheer that's simply , "Allez les Bleus!" (translated, Let's go Blues!)
