Yes, if only all those millions of voters hadn't been so uncouth as to vote for someone as gauche as Donald Trump.
See this is why I vote 3rd party at least I can deflect and say It was not my fault. First time I vote Democrat and this shit happens. May as well have voted Johnson again.
Yes: Alaska 5.9% (not final), Maine 5.1% (not final), New Mexico 9.3%, North Dakota 6.3%, Oklahoma 5.7%, South Dakota 5.6%, Wyoming 5.3% For Stein (>2%): Hawaii 2.9%, Kansas 2.0%, Oregon 2.4%, Vermont 2.3% If I'm reading right, Johnson beat Stein in every state, which would indicate that the disappointing result isn't all on Johnson but that the move away from third parties that we always see just seemed to happen later than usual this year. Still the Libertarians best ever result, and I imagine for the Greens too.
I don't think they get matching funds, but different states have different thresholds for automatic ballot access, and they certainly hit some of those last night. And for a minor party, that's huge.
Automatic ballot access for the next Presidential election or for all offices until the next Presidential election?
It varies vastly by state. Here's a Reason article from before the election outlining what was needed for each state. http://reason.com/blog/2016/11/03/how-gary-johnsons-vote-percentages-will
The third party was a bit lower than I expected. Many of those who I suspected wouldn't vote for either Trump or Hillary no matter what simply didn't show up.
It appears we won't have Gary Johnson to kick around any more ... Libertarian Gary Johnson says he will not seek public office again Sounds like he's going full Forrest Gump, but instead of running across America, Gary's gonna ride his bike.
Those of us who heard his endorsement of Kmele Foster for 2020 some weeks back could see this coming.
Indeed, he said a couple weeks ago the only way he'd run in 2020 was if he won in 2016. He's had two runs at it. Time for someone else to have a shot.
You know it. Michael Moynihan for press secretary (I'm not sure the press would be thrilled about being continuously, but subtly, mocked, though I'm not sure most would know the difference).
Hey, learn from the Democrat party disaster, do not crown a candidate 4 years in advance (8 in the DNC).
No, he'll still have to fight it out at the convention with the lunatics and naked people. Don't worry about that.
Ah, my mistake. As much as I bag on the LP (and it mostly deserves it), this Sarwark guy is pretty awesome.
She's raised twice as much since the election as she did during her campaign, based mostly on the promise of recounts in WI, MI, and PA. And just yesterday, apparently, her team said that not all the money raised since the election will be going toward the recount efforts, which squares with what you've mentioned here. Kennedy gave her a bit of a tongue lashing about that last night on FBN, especially since Kennedy was one of the few media figures who gave her a chance and encouraged people to check her out, despite huge differences on principles.
Grifter (which my phone autocorrected to Geiger...fitting) is too nice. Self-serving immoral asshole works better.
