Atalanta striker Duván Zapata is ranked 63rd best male footballer of 2019 in the Guardian's 100-player list. He'll surely be the only Colombian player included in this year's charts (positions 1-40 still to be revealed).https://t.co/YADOal9VjS— Carl Worswick (@cworswick) December 18, 2019
I think that's pretty fair without looking at the other players, but I think if he's not been injured for a while and had more full seasons at Atalanta he'd be a lot higher. Colombia and Atalanta are really lucky to have him, hopefully the guy stays healthy up to the World Cup.
Duvan finally makes his comeback, comes off the bench but doesn't really get much going. Muriel started and had a good game but didn't get a goal in a 5-0 Atalanta win. Atalanta is by far my favorite team to watch, they always attack from the beginning to the end of games which is great for Muriel and Duvan because they get the whole game to work in the areas where they thrive.
glad to see Duvan back on the field today. plenty of games (14 to be exact) between now and March 26/31 for him to be ready for some WCQ action
They have a real chance, they got about the best possible draw for the next round and with everyone healthy they have a lot of depth, which for their high tempo style is really important to be able to rotate and keep people fresh. They have 4 fullbacks about 5-6 CB's that can play and attack wise they have Gomez, Malinovski, Ilicic, Duvan, Muriel who I think are all fantastic players. Their real peak was Ilicic, Gomez, Duvan those 3 worked really well together but Muriel and Malinovsky have really shown they deserve to be in the side recently.
Duvan starts, Lautaro with a quick goal have Atalanta playing from behind early against the team you really don't want to be in that position against.
Got in good positions and had a couple of chances on headers but they were crosses he couldn't get a lot of power on and he couldn't really trouble the goalie. Hold up play was pretty good overall, but was up against Godin who's obviously a tough customer, either way nice to see him get 45 minutes and its good he's being eased back into things.
Inter have just given the game to them in the second half and with a penalty it seems all over. Edit: Holy shit I am actually happy that Muriel missed his penalty.
That front 3 are perfectly balanced. Duvan still looks a little stiff compared to pre injury, hopefully in the next few games he can get back to 100%. Playing well but still not as sharp as he was.
So far Duvan still looks a bit rusty with a few bad touches but nice to get off the mark with the penalty. Hopefully he can have a better overall 2nd half and hopefully Muriel can get in on the act as well.
Yeah he def did not look like his best version. Hopefully gets back on track. You never know with these long injuries. Muriel deserved more minutes.
