My uncle who lived in this area for 65+ years moved down to NC to be with his grandkids. When he came back for my other uncle’s funeral this last month, he walked into my folks’ house with Pizza Oven. Says he misses that stuff every time he is gone for too long. My husband’s aunt born and raised in Akron always says the same thing about Swensons. She demands a “Swensons run” every time she is back from the hell hole known as New Jersey.
Back to the original post, the OP is asking Precourt to care about Columbus. And I think I have a better chance of winning Powerball and Mega Millions on the same day.
Leaning Tower Subs in Mansfield is the best pizza (and subs) in the area. We have relatives there and have been known to drive an hour from Columbus for a sub/pizza run and not tell any of the relatives. Boycotting PJ isn't anything to me because I wouldn't buy them in the first place. Crap pizza.
I’m curious. Are you against the whole “voting with your dollar” thing? I mean, yeah, it would be pretty darn hard to know the backgrounds of all the companies from which we purchase goods and services. Even so, if a consumer feels strongly about a given concept or position a certain company holds (Chick-fil-A, for instance), what do you have against a consumer supporting/not supporting a certain company or companies? ISTM, as the big fish continue to consume the little fish, consumers have less and less of a say in their consumption as it is. No?
Of course not. Quite. Absolutely nothing other than I think it's ultimately a dumb way to live. I'm not being prescriptive. Why do people always assume that? (Interestingly, Dave Rubin - look him up - on that exact subject you raise, agrees even more forcefully than I do.) I have no idea what this means.
I don't know that it's a way to live. It would take far more time than most people have to make every purchasing decision on a company's background. As for being prescriptive, I think people make that assumption based on the way you come across. Or something like that. I'll read up on Dave Rubin later. Sure you do. We've talked about this before. Smaller companies get bought out by bigger companies, and if they are in the same consumer sector, there is ultimately less competition for those goods or services. The consumer has less choices. And ultimately less impact on said market.
Yes, it would. Pray tell, where do I come across that way? Be specific. It seems to me that it's more projection than anything. This is a much more complicated issue than you've presented it as. Fewer. Depends.
Fewer, yes. My error. I’m not calling you prescriptive. You made the statement that you were *not* being prescriptive and saying that people always assume that. I was making a subjective remark as to why that might be. Does it really matter? As for the rest of it, I’ll hang up and take my answer off the air.
Timon taking over a TC thread is as old as... well Matchnight. Edit: Does a way exist to rep Zip's sig?
It is a chance for us to make THEM look bad. Of course the don't care about Columbus. They don't care about Austin, either. Or New York. Or LA. Or the people there. All they care about is making as much $$$ as they can. If that includes taking $$$ from racists & promoting companies owned by racists, then so be it. Look, when the Decke drops F bombs all over the place, it allows PSV to look like guardians of coomunity standards and values. That infuriates me. Now we have a chance to turn the tables on them (and punch a racist in the balls at the same time). What is not to like?
I have him on ignore. He is a hypocrite of the highest order. He gets sensitive when racists get exposed and the prospect of them getting what they deserve horrifies him. Wonder why?
Oh, is this one of those "I have you on ignore!!! ...but I secretly check all the time" kabuki theater things? Anyhoo...I do so love the not-at-all veiled accusation.
From what I can tell we have consensus that Papa John's pizza is inedible. Even this Quakes fan agrees.
It's weird. It's inedible, but its ubiquity suggests that it is sufficiently popular to be a national chain. Funny how that works.
Large swathes of the country don't appear to have access to quality pizza, so they have to resort to Papa John's or Pizza Hut. It's one of those under-reported crises.
