what, cant be bothered by showing a USL game attendance? it seems everytime this gets brought up, sounders fans keep bringing up the NASL. just own up to the fact that the MLS sounders are a good team combined with the new car smell to it. We all know the USL sounders were a winning team (4 usl championships), but that didn't mean jack to seattle people who scream "seattle til i die" nowadays. even sadder is that Sounders existed when MLS started, yet their attendance for the USL sounders dropped after MLS started. you'd think that seattle fans itching for professional soccer wouldve embraced their winning team.
Re: Drew Carey calls out all MLS teams Congrats! you finally embraced your soccer team after 14 years.
and yet, i wonder if you'd make these comments if the sounders started playing horribly and losing year after year.
Like yours? SJ attendance 2008: 13,713 / missed Play-offs 2009: 14,114 / missed Play-offs 2010: 9,659 / 10,525 2011? You guys were one PK away from meeting SSFC in the USOC final.. but you don't care do you? Qualification finals May 24, 2011 San Jose Earthquakes 2 – 2 (aet) (4 – 5 pen) Chicago Fire Santa Clara, CA, USA bummer
and yet we can made it to the MLS Cup semifinals last year, and sell out our stadium. we work with what were given.
uh, that's your argument? lose year after year, then we'll see the attendance? thats funny, your comments smell like jealousy. Look, sorry that you only have 1 more win than an expansion team, and sorry you have a hard time selling out your current 10,000 seat stadium. Drew Carey makes douche bag comments, but sounder fans are here to stay, I live here, I have for over 30 years, I do know and understand the sports culture up here. I do not know and understand the culture of where your from so I dont make comments about it. Good luck on saturday, your team will be playin in front of 60,000 sounder fans.
pretty damn good attendance for a small stadium. again, if we had a bigger stadium there would be more people. 2011? we keep selling out our stadium, and point to the 41000 in attendance at our home game against NY to prove we care about our team. We lost to the Chicago fire, playing our full squad. not sure what your point is here, since its obvious we were trying to win the game, and not play our reserves. we sent our best to portland too, and beat them at jeld wen field. is it our fault they sent their scrubs to play us at home? again, if your trying to say we didnt care about the USOC, then whats your proof? is it squad? is it the fact we lost to a USOC finalist? and we were one PK away from playing the Rochester Rhinos in the3rd round.
no jealousy here. I've seen San Jose sell out a 30,000 seat stadium when it first started as a new team as well. San Jose fans will continue to send our message for a bigger stadium by continually buying season tickets at our temporary stadium. again, we work with what we got. Our coach gambled on certain players, got rid of the extras, and its biting him in the ass now. we still show up for our team. if youve been there 30 years, im surprised you havent mentioned all the good times you had going to see the USL sounders with all that crazy soccer culture you have up there. no, we arent playing you on saturday. seems you'll have a fun time adding a few extra 25000 fans to your lower bowl, since the 300 level seats wont be sold.
I do see that now. still, have fun fitting 60000 people that space. its gonna be a tight squeeze, since seats above the small 300 ring and the hawks nest arent open.
yea they did, if you only open the small ring w/out hawks nest it maxes out around 45,000, they also expect walk up sales, whole stadium will be open, max capacity is 67,000.
The growth of this thread has become retarded by what I believe to be a case of Stage 1 Rivalries Disease. This is usually the phase where fans start to measure their dicks not in inches, but by attendence figures. We need to treat this right away before it enters full blown ************ Porn mode.
Re: Drew Carey calls out all MLS teams ha! fair enough, but this is still year 3 of mls for seattle. I wont lie, all the accolades so far this year for me will be diminished if we do not at least make it to the MLS Cup game. We'll have a shot at the s.s next year L.A, watch your depth and hope you can get the same contributions from your superstars next year.
Re: Drew Carey calls out all MLS teams One trophy at a time, good sir. One trophy at a time. Indeed we will.
