Advertisers having a ball with murals Downtown Graphic creation of the proposed advertisement for the Crew downtown: Additional advertising:
I was just about to post about that downtown ad. Seems pretty cool! Not so sure I like the car promotion....I hate those flyers that they stick under your wiper blade that you never see and end up getting gunked in the rain.
I don't think they're going to shove it under your wiper, I think they're planning on actually attaching a decal to your car for you. That seems like a move that could backfire. However, I think the note part is both funny and a quiet jab at the previous regime. I like that fact that they're taking the approach that damage was done, that they're sorry, and are trying to fix it/make it up to the fans/community. Good on them for being able to come to terms with that. So, I'm a little surprised that we have the marketing/advertising budget for this kind of campaign. Maybe Hunt decided that he has to pay for his mistakes and poured more into rebuilding the community relationship. I hope that is the case and that we see a profusion of adverts for the Crew this season.
Maybe we did so little advertising over the past....long time, that we've saved up quite a bit. I honestly don't remember much advertising since the first 3-4 seasons. It's been almost non-existant since the move to CCS.
Are we sure this is really the Crew doing all this stuff - on and off the field? Maybe that message board is really a sign that we've been transported into some kind of Bizarro Crew World.
The Crew select Fahlgren Mortine as public relations agency of record I don't think I've ever heard the Crew refer to its brand image. It almost sounds like some serious work going on at Crew HQ.
Impressive, as long as they don't put it too close to a highway, as defined by local zoning regulations. Happened with that big Mini Cooper ad downtown (the slingshot thingy). Anyway, looks cool. Imagine, spending cash marketing the Crew in Columbus. What a refreshing change.
Here's an actual story and not just a press release: http://columbus.bizjournals.com/columbus/stories/2006/01/23/daily36.html There's a little more information and some perspective, including a Crew official saying this is a turning point for the organization.
Interesting that they would put it on the side of the Brunson, which is a high-end condo project. Great idea for the Crew...but my first thought was: I wonder if the condo association leased this space or the original builders retained the right to lease exterior advertising space? I live on a condo building further north on High, maybe I could convince the association to sell exterior space for a Crew ad. But considering they recently voted to ban any type of signage in owners windows, the chances look slim. Regardless, I'll ask...
Great news! This is the type of thing that may make it seem "cool" to go to a Crew game. Could this possibly mean that we won't be sitting all alone in the stadium this year?
CrewTV has it taken care of on the foreign front. Here's to the front office finally conquering "the motherland".
The large ads downtown are purported to violate federal, not local law, and the case is still in court.
The picture was below the fold on the front page of the Dispatch and there was a pretty decent article about the supplemental draft in the sports section
Any chance of getting the new Addidas ball in the add instead of a "traditional" soccer ball. I feel to break the mold of soccer opinions, why not use a more relevent soccer icon (something the viewer doesn't shut off before even looking at it).
Interesting, and encouraging. But I'd rather it was something like: http://www.donyell.net/detroit/DSCF0035.JPG http://www.jankaulins.com/images/products/fullimages/93.jpg Then again, I'm not sure who we can point to as "the face" of the Crew.
Bad idea - more people would recognize the normal soccer ball, and it's also irrelevant to the campaign.
Those pictures bring back memories of Dr. Khumalo on the side of that one COTA bus. There was that other bus with Presthus and other 2-3 players on it.
