LA Times: Galaxy agree on a deal with Jonathan dos Santos Our Dos Santos contingent doubles, as does our count of brothers playing for the Galaxy. Jonathan dos Santos completes our relatively young Designated Player corp through 2019. We've got our stars, how will they be used and who will be there to complement them? So far an announcement has not been made by the Galaxy.
I eagerly await Onalfo deploying him as a right back. EDIT: Hang on. It says we've agreed a transfer fee. It doesn't say he's agreed to a deal. He might decide that he doesn't want to go to MLS in his prime.
Jonathan Dos Santos ya ha pasado la revisión médica con el Galaxy, el día de mañana firmará y será oficialmente presentado el viernes.— Jennifer Seefoo (@JennSeefoo) July 26, 2017 "Jonathan Dos Santos has already passed medical review with the Galaxy, tomorrow will sign and will be officially presented on Friday."
I'm excited about this, and can't wait for Onalfo to be fired so that we can actually build around the two Dos Santos brothers, Alessandrini, Lletget, Pele, Boateng and Zardes. That team makes me excited. Course, we need Pedro to step up big time at DM, but still...
A competent coach would definitely help. Crossing my fingers that one exists that the Galaxy is keeping on the radar.
I'd love to see a 433 with Pedro, Lleget and JdS in the midfield, but that's a formation that doesn't put GdS in a position to succeed. If he could stay high enough to occupy the CBs and let Boateng and Alessendrini attack down the wings, we might actually look like a decent MLS team. Even with Onalfo coaching.
It's crazy how good our team is and yet we sit 9th in the West. How Onalfo still has a goddamn job is beyond me. One good thing is our team is pretty young. Lletget - 24 Zardes - 25 Gio - 28 Jonathan - 27 Alessandrini - 28 Pedro - 24 Pele - 26 That is a great core. Van Damme is 34 though. We will likely need a new center back in a couple years.
I was thinking the same thing. Individually, we may be the most talented team in the league, but can we make it work as a team? As Berks said, it's going to come down to whether Pedro can be a good enough defender to support everyone else.
That's the question isn't it? What I'm seeing and hearing about JDS really impresses me. And having his brother already on team hopefully means he knows the league and his Galaxy teammates much better than the typical big DP signing, meaning he will acclimate quicker. And we definitely have the offensive talent that is begging for someone to pull the strings and make it work. The question is will Onalfo find a way to not muck it up and can the defense hold up their part of the equation....?
Agree. We just need a left back and a center back to replace our old guys and we could have an excellent team to build around for several years...
Zardes-Gio-Alessandrini Lletget-Pedro-Jona Cole-JVD-Steres-Pele Rowe Looks sexy, but lacks a true DMID. May not matter because I don't know who in MLS could stop the sheer firepower of that front 6.
You win the Internet today! PS - Silly me. I was convinced that with this week being a exactly one year since Sigi parted ways with Seattle and the coincidence of the Sounders being our opponent on Saturday, that we'd actually get an announcement today. Alas, JdS is hopefully good news, both in what he'll bring on the field and hopefully to reignite something for Gio, who has seemed out of sorts of late. As for the lineups, I'm sold on Ema, so hope there is a way to make sure that he continues to get his playing time.
