The thing with Evra though, is he will always try and get forward, with Donovan's pace he will have to be very aware and this could nulify Evra's attacking threat ;)

did you see Fulham take ManU apart? Duff would play Evra on the counter attack and catch him up field the entire match. By the end, he was tired and Duff was able to defend effectively all match. Great piece of work by hodgs on that one.

I think Donovan would have more trouble against the likes of Ashley Cole(who is just as good with his feet and more physical). Evra is a monster going forward but has some defensive weaknesses.

Maybe Everton can play down the opposite side of Evra cross the ball in thus forcing the right back to the touch line and Evra into the middle. I dont see how a 5'6 Evra can mark the center forward in todays game. His other weakness is concentration.

Well, I probably shouldn't have brought that up. Let's how he does with Insua - a match up I actually like for Landon. Insua is rather young, and would much rather attack than defend.

oh man, derby day at the tin-mine on saturday. not an enjoyable experience as a blue, the RS will get everything from the ref and I hope to christ Distin is still injured. The sooner Jagielka is back the sooner we will look wayyy more solid, this Distin-Heitinger nonesense gives me the jitters. You'll see a lot more solid everton with Yobo-Jagielka at central defense.

As for saturday, we have got to be due a win at analfield, we drew there twice in a week last season to really mess it up for them in the league..

I know, and Middlesborough should milk City for all of that. Horribly over paid transfer fees for British players.

I wonder if all this UK media praise will influence Donovan's desire to stay past the end of the loan and/or put additional pressure on Everton to extend his loan or make it permanent.

I have to think most teams/managers in England learn early to ignore the press

That era of football is flatly irrelevant to today.

Huh. Everton have a cool wallpaper of Landon.

That's kind of unusual, I would think, of a player just on loan.

Or maybe I'm reading way too much into it...it's just that I so badly want him to become a permanent player for them.

Now, if it turns out that the walls of Bill Kenwright's office are covered in Landon Donovan wallpaper, that would probably mean something.

I heard from a friend in Liverpool that he saw Donovan coming out of a cab near Goodison Park.

What time in the US, EST is the Liverpool vs Everton game on, and where can one watch? Just that I saw one site and the times seemed to be iffy.

Damn shame, too, from that aspect. Ferguson's exploits at Aberdeen were what showed he had the managerial chops, but now that winning the SPL, or pretty much any league from there on up, is just about impossible without the budget, the Hodgsons (or, to try and spin this back somewhere within a few miles of the topic, the Moyes, who've also done a great deal with what was given them) of the world may never get the chance to repeat it. Closest I can think of is going on a lucky run in a UCL with a smallish (on that scale) club like Porto.
