Copa MX? Idk, usually teams field out their reserves. I wouldn’t bank on it.

Based on pictures and previous form I can only conclude he's doing this for the food.

Is that were Leon is based? Like most mexican cities they are far better than most think. The food is generally outstanding, the people genial and friendly it's just that 1% of 1% that literally ruin the entire country.

Prolly got an ownership stake or player/coach role. Otherwise I just don't get this move.

Sorry didn't see the 150K/month, I thought it was annual. That seems a massive sum for an over the hill out of shape bald has been. Love the guy, but a major talent at this stage he ain't. T minus 10, 9, 8.. until he blows his hammy.

The Spanish language media reported $2m/year. And that the contract is for one year (two short seasons).

I doubt it's just for the money though. He has enough, he was making three times that much when he retired, and the guy doesn't strike me as someone who's in love with money or wastes it.

My instinct tells me this is part a learning experience for him, as a future coach; and part political activism, LD has always been involved in "liberal" causes.

Donovan has some characteristic to his game that made him quite Latin in my view, like sometimes pausing for a fraction of a second to make not the obvious good pass, but the much less obvious excellent one. "La pausa" we so often lacked this last cycle.

he was making $6 million in his last season with Galaxy? Is that including endorsements?

he has to be among the top earners in the league with $2million

I'm curious how many jerseys he might sell or promotions he might provide the club

His #20 jersey with Club Leon sold out within an hour, as per what they said in Futbol Picante. No idea how many they actually printed.

With endorsements, he was probably well above the $6m mark before his first retirement. Salary alone was 4.5m with Galaxy, plus other guaranteed income put him at about 5.7m. The endorsements likely topped him at around 8m or so.

DAMN. I had no idea he was earning that. It's so strange that Bradley was earning more than him salarywise with his club. I never know how endorsements compare to say other sports stars, but $3 million or so for a US soccer star ain't bad.

LD's MLS guaranteed comp in 2014 was $4.6MM. Top 5 USMNT in MLS that year were Deuce ($6.7MM), MB90 ($6.5MM), LD ($4.6MM), Jones ($3.3MM)

Not really. Jones took almost a 50% pay cut from his Schalke wages by moving to MLS.

So the $3.3 million was his salary at Schalke. I seem to recall he was on some high wages for the Bundesliga. Which I would figure was much more than that.

Depends on a body. If one is less inclined to get injured he will keep on being injured less frequently. So your hopes are futile.
