Well, this is really weird. I thought he was decent when he came out of retirement a couple years ago with the Galaxy, but I'd have to imagine there would be diminishing returns at this point. I'll also miss him as a commentator. He wasn't great, but I thought he was improving and was better than some other options. But I'm sure he'll be back in that role soon enough...
Dang it!!!!!!!! I swore I was not going to watch any more MFL games this week after the news of the one I will never mention again decided to play for MX broke. But I love LD and will be following his latest adventure.
And with that announcement: bring in the dancing lobsters ¿Quién fue el fichaje 'bomba' de la #LigaMX?RT 🔁 Landon DonovanFAV ❤ Jérémy Ménezhttps://t.co/b9ndP5QS5F pic.twitter.com/I1pl0tU5tN— AS México (@ASMexico) January 13, 2018 Shall be an interesting season.
Wow. I can hardly believe this, but think it's cool for him to be able to play the sport he loves one more time in Mexico. Very cool indeed. Makes me want to fly down there and watch him play. I wonder when he will get in his first game there. I'm guessing in some non-Liga MX competition at first, but who knows. I'm sure they must see him as a last 15 minutes sub at forward? I would be surprised if they play him in a wing position at his age. Anyhow... I'm looking forward to watching Landon play one more time (was at his final game in Colorado).
Per Hercules Gomez: ¿DOS a CERO? This would be the greatest troll job on earth if he actually meant it! 🦁 #USMNT #ElTri 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 #20 #Leon pic.twitter.com/bvH6N3eWRj— herculez gomez (@herculezg) January 14, 2018
You should. Guanajuato is a cool state. If you go make sure to pass by San Miguel de Allende. You’ll have a good time
Practicum for his eventual coaching job? I expect him to play very little and to be on the bench a lot. His 2016 return has been underestimated: LAG made the playoffs with his help, and they went out when he got injured. In Spanish, a "pared" (wall) is a quick interplay between two or more players who pass the ball to each other to avoid tackles, in attack. Donovan was very good at it. So, "Las paredes no son muros: Donovan @ Leon." Or whatever. * Muro is another word for wall, without the soccer-related connotation.
Landon Donovan Confounds Again with Surprise Move to Club León https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/01/13/landon-donovan-club-leon-liga-mx-mexico-analysis-surprise
Here is him being presented to fans at Club Leon's stadium, being followed by I presume a press conference.
I don't want to pretend to think this is a good idea of LD, but I will say he looks leaner and more fit than he did in his comeback with the galaxy.
Landon is always good for what he says. If he puts it out there he makes himself back it up. He looks fit.
