Has he been demoted to the youth side now?

At least he's scoring. And the teens call him "sir."

Well, he played in each of their last 5 competitive games, starting four. Played off of the bench in last friendly and last competitive match before today. If he's playing for the youth side, it might just be that he hasn't played many minutes in the last month, partially because there haven't been matches, and partially because he didn't start in a couple. But let's wait until he actually misses a matchday 18 before declaring him demoted.

Elia Soriano also played in this match, and he's a regular starter.

Like Casper said, it's probably all about getting match fit and finding some form - especially because the team really, really needs more goals. 17 goals in 18 matches is the worst in the league.

The fact that they keep playing Haji with the first team tells me Venlo has given up already.

VVV is still in the playoff slot, one point out of free and clear.

They have the worst GD, worst GF and worst GA in the league, but manage to put them together better than ADO or RKC...

Haji still has a few months to bang in the season-saving goal and become a west German legend...

Running the risk of asking you to explain a joke ... is this because Venlo is right on the border with Germany?

Yeah, sorry. My wife's old Frysk uncle, who was a big footie fan, liked to call Venlo (and, if he felt the urge Twente or Emmen, or even Arnhem!) "that German club/city," Rotterdam was "north Belgium," Eidhoven was just the "lightbulb town..." Groningen was a "that cow pasture..." etc.

I realize it's not that funny, but he was a great old guy so I carry on his curmudgeonly tradition. (I think it was in some way his playful reaction to us Americans call the Netherlands "Holland." He would threaten to toss us in the back of a manure truck headed for Amsterdam any time we made that slip.)

Looks like if we want to be excited about a striker we're gonna have to adopt Haaland.

1-1 final. Haji had 29 touches, the fewest of any 90 minute player on either side, had 1 shot attempt (off-target), and completed 59% (!) of his passes.

To be clear, the interweb thingy not being a very good good vehicle for subtlety and all that, I said "unfortunately" because I take zero pleasure in, ahem, Wrighting someone off .

It's just that seeing someone who has many/most/all the tools flunking out due to lack of physical and mental effort at mastering his craft, a craft that you or I would give our right hands to be able to do for a living, is beyond frustrating. Doubly so when it's been happening in slow motion from the day he moved to Europe.

At least Agudelo has made some effort.
