The kid keeps getting games, which is good, but his ratings look to be consistently poor to mediocre.

He keeps playing because VVVV has nothing else.

PS: Normally we lose 6 or 7 YAs to relegation, each season. That's about half our contingent in Top 12 leagues in Europe and in the best 2nd divisions. This season the count may be higher.

I haven't seen him play since he left Schalke. I pull for him but he needs a dose of whatever made McBride stick his head in a place where his eyelid turned into a balloon. Maybe not 100% of that but players don't make it without a lot of that want to.

Btw if you choose basically everyone, the yas relegations are consistent (3/18) if you assume 100 yas playing in europe.

It's such a terrible team they even miss Haji.

  15. On what do they base the expected goals? Sounds to me as a bogus method.

A bogus method? It certainly is in Venlo's case. Nobody expects them to score.

Maybe in the nightclubs, but not on the field

It’s based on where each shot is taken from; based on the position and other factors, they use previous data to calculate the likelihood of scoring a goal from that shot. Then they just add those values up from every shot for a player, team, etc. To me it seems a valuable, although limited, stat.

xG is a statistic meant to provide a numerical value for each shot. For example a shot taken a foot away from the center of the goal will have a xG value that approaches 1. A shot taken from the other end of the pitch will approach a xG value of 0.

Opta has their own formula of calculating xG, as does Statsbomb, as do countless other statistical companies. Without knowing what the calculation is under the hood it’s hard to say how accurate it is. That said, it’s the statistic most at the core of the analytics revolution.

Underperforming xG is not that big a deal; in fact, regression to the mean would suggest that Wright will start scoring if he continues to generate those numbers. The total xG is quite low for a starting striker and means he’s not getting enough shots in good locations.

I was going to say that a xG of 3.3 is pretty puny. Sure, having 3 goals is better than none, but 3 goals is not going to save his career. Going into this season, I'd have said 12 goals was a good number to get, or even say 6-9 goals plus 3-6 assists (or at least xG created). He's like a less talented version of Eddie Johnson.

Well, in the bet of which one of Wright, Nova & Siebatcheu was going to do better, for now we have a clear winner with Nova scoring one goal already.
