Mississississippii has scored 25 goals in their first 5 games.

Missississipppppi is on a roll, and their offense is on FIRE.

Are they for real? Is this the best offense in the nation right now?

Obviously depends who those goals are against?? Have they faced any competition?

They have certainly played the toughest schedule you could ever imagine.
Alabama State, Northwestern State, Lamar, High Point, etc.

Not if they keep scoring 5 goals per game.
I don't care if they're playing Dirtville A&M or Vaseline University.
    They're still scoring.

Well, you just enjoy LaLa Land.....when they are scoring 5 against teams like FSU, UNC, aTm, UVA, Stanford, or UCLA, to name a few....then you may have a claim .

No team would avg. 5 goals per game against that type of gauntlet.
Arkansas was the surprise team of the SEC (and the NCAA) last year.
All I'm saying is maybe Ole Miss will pull an Arkansas this year.
They'll need to beat Florida, South Carolina, or Texas A&M in the SEC to validate it.
They need a big time victory to make that claim.

Surely this thread is a joke. The ONLY team they played they scored 1 goal. It's frankly embarrassing for the league the schedule that guy plays. Everyone plays a cupcake or 2. His schedule is a joke. As an sec fan, it angers me.

Michigan only conceded 1 against Ole Miss and 2 against South Carolina so maybe South Carolina have the best offense in the nation lol

You can't play the comparison game.
If you do that, you'll always lose.
There are always scenarios in which Team A beats Team B, who beat Team C, who beat Team D, who beat Team E, who pulled off an upset and beat Team F.

And who is Team F in that chain? Someone elite such as Virginia or Florida State.
It always happens every year with these scenarios.

Ole Miss is now averaging 6 goals per match (rounded up).
I don't care who they're playing, that's an arse load of goals.
In fact, no team this millennium in Division 1 women's soccer has averaged this many goals (per game) through their first 6 games of a season.

And oh look, Northwestern State is 4th on that list in scoring offense.
Ole Miss beat them 8-0, with a nice beat-down and a complimentary Clean Sheet.

LOL, Northwestern State in one game beat LSU-Shreveport (WTF?) by a score of 12-0.
Their very next game (two days later), they lost to Ole Miss 8-0.
That's a 20-goal swing, in the blink of 48 hours.

Their schedule is even more cream-puffed up than the Ole Miss schedule.
At least Ole Miss isn't paying LSU-Shreveport, LOL.

Ole Miss has already scored 33 goals in less than 1/3 of their season.
Most Division 1 teams don't even score 33 goals total in their regular season schedule.
They would need to score nearly 2 goals per game in an 18-19 game schedule or so.
A lot of teams don't do that, with their 1-1, 2-1, 1-0 results throughout many of their games.

I'm not stating that Ole Miss is going to the Frozen Tundra Four in early December.
But the NCAA tournament, and a possible Sweet 16 could be in their future.
This team knows how to put the Biscuit in the Basket.

Michigan is a very good defensive team.
You normally don't see teams putting up 3 or 4 goals on their defense.
This is the school that Shelina Zadorsky played for. They take pride in their D.

Ole Miss Vs. Memphis this Sunday, is the real test for the Lady Rebels (Memphis received more top 25 votes this week than the Rebels in the US Soccer Coaches Poll). Memphis has a strong defensive unit and a superb midfield. The Tigers have conceded 1 goal this season and scored 16 goals through 5 games.

My prediction Memphis wins 3-2 in OT.

Freshman Channing Foster MF/F (Ole Miss) is one to watch out for. She Already has two hat tricks to her name and seven goals on the season.

That is definitely their toughest remaining non-conference match.
Memphis is a good program. You could make the case that they are as good as Michigan.

I think this creampuff schedule will ultimately hurt Ole Miss when they get into conference play.
At least Arkansas played better competition last year (including Duke, and they beat Duke).
Arkansas was more prepared last year to step into conference play.

But maybe, just maybe, Ole Miss will still score a lot of goals, and find ways to win.
This is why the parity in college soccer has been great to see.
The traditional juggernaut teams don't automatically win like they used to.

We now have over 75 programs that are realistically capable of getting to a College Cup.
    No shedt.

Ole Miss had an off night tonight, and only scored 4 goals (against Tulsa).
It was an away game, but a disappointing 4-0 victory on the road.
Their goals per game avg. just went down.
They have a tough game coming up against Memphis.

Oh well, they probably won't pull off a National Title this year.
    Disregard this thread entirely.

But at least I can fall back on this thread from last season ...............

So I guess a good offense is a good defense. Beating Memphis 1-0, out shooting them 11-6. Something is going right for this team. I guess you can wait and see.

I was about to start a thread and title it, "Does Ole Miss have the Best DEFENSE in the nation", but I didn't want to torture everyone.

This team still has the #1 offense in goal scoring, and are near the top in defense now.
They have only given up one goal all season (including their exhibition game).

They have outscored teams 857,421,932 to 1.

Stanford has now taken over the #1 spot for goals per game, knocking them down to the #2 spot.
Ole Miss has only scored 5 goals in their past 2 games, after averaging almost 6 per game.
When Ole Miss is playing tougher opponents, their defense has been what gets them a result.
They're becoming a dangerous team, because they have goal scorers who have confidence.
And they have a defense that is statistically playing very well.

Stanford beats them 4 games to 1 in a 7 game series.
Ole Miss has that one game in which they convert their limited opportunities, and gut it out.
Stanford blows them out in 3 of the 4 victories, and wins 4-2 in the close out match in Game 5.

So Ole Miss put up 4 shots against Florida who played 3 in the back all game. So to answer your question: "Are they for real? Is this the best offense in the nation right now?

Yes, probably versus Alabama State, Northwestern State, Lamar, High Point, Southern Miss and Tulsa. But against Michigan, Memphis (soft schedule too), and Florida, 2 goals.

Matt Mott continues to schedule "cupcake" non conference teams to pad wins and stats for team and players to promote for national honors.

Yeah, and Matt Mott looks like a Matt Mott. That name fits him like a glove.
Some people just look exactly like their name. No harm intended here, just saying.
There's nothing wrong with the last name Mott.

Ole Miss just scored 4 goals against Georgia, so maybe their offense is back on track.
Georga is a mediocre team at best.

Some teams don't know how to score a ton of goals against mediocre (and worse) teams.
Ole Miss seems to have no problem at it.

The next step for their program, they need to find a way to score 2 goals against Top 25 teams.
Their defense has been very consistent. They haven't allowed more than one goal all year.
