The team of highly trained, specialist cardiac doctors and nurses who saved Fabrice Muamba's life are wondering if anybody has noticed that, actually, they had a bit of a say in the matter and that it wasn't all down to God.

With headlines proclaiming that "The prayers of the nation" brought Muamba back from the dead, experts have described this assertion as "Bloody rubbish".

"What saved his life was years of dedication to scientifically proven techniques for dealing with severe cardiac trauma, perfected over many years of hard work, in a range of medical skills you can actually see."

"If you want to credit God with anything at all, why not put him on the spot over who gave Muamba a dicky heart, which pegged out on him, in the first place."

Religious communities across the country have insisted that the power of prayer had a significant influence on the young man's recovery, and as one religious nut-job told reporters "I spent two hours on my knees talking with the big man and asking for Fabrice's survival and look what happened...!! If this isn't proof of divine intervention, then what is..?"

However, I think people should look at the more realistic evidence that is right in front of their very eyes when looking for the reasons for Muamba's survival and recovery.

As one doctor explained: "Here's a thought. Instead of clasping your hands together in prayer, how about using putting them together over a CPR dummy and learn how to perform a technique that might genuinely save somebody's life in future."

Yeah.... aint that a better idea...?

I totally agree. I never felt comfortable with the 'Pray for Muamba' slogan. It's unbeliavably crass of some people to put his recovery down to prayer in any way. It doesn't just disrespect the medical staff who helped Fabrice it also disrespects the memory of the likes of Puerta, Foe and recently Morosini not to mention pretty much everyone else that has been in a life threatening situation.
