I couldn't find a thread about this but wondered what has happened to other Division II women's team coaches when the University involved decides to penalize a coach for transgressing against NCAA (as opposed to school) rules. I'm asking because of what happened to Brian McManus, the long-time coach of the UCSD Tritons just a few days ago: Fired because he treated the team to pizza a few times over the past few years.

He is no longer listed as the coach, but there is still a page for him:

Now it is being called 'PizzaGate'! He was definitely pushed: "Resign or be Fired". It does appear that an earlier mess by the Women's Crew program 5 years ago might have played into the school admin's reaction. Now the parents of the current team are saying the lone investigator (not from the athletic department, which is what would normally happen in cases like this) was intimidating and asked inappropriate questions.

Of note - because of the teams that were ahead of them in the polls have all lost at least one game, the Tritons are now at the top of the polls.

Here is another article, the print version being entitled 'UCSD: No. 1 Team, No Head Coach.' UCSD soccer alumni have written to the school Chancellor and are now asking for 3 things: 'appropriately honor' McManus; name Jones as head coach; conduct investigation into 'how this situation evolved and how it could have been handled better.' They have also told UCSD to not solicit donations from them.
