Is it just me, or does this look like he just took a massive bite out of that ball?

Also, thats the only thing that bothers me about vermeer... his height.

Amazing... What is Arsene thinking? Am i the only person who thinks he should have been sacked years ago?

You are not alone. Wenger is one of the biggest whiners in football; always complaining and never willing to accept the blame when it rests on his shoulders.

Arsenal want both Mata and Maduro in some kind of package deal. Maduro is appr. 6 mil so will grant us 300k should this transfer happen. I don't know about lining him up in their defence because he's better in midfield, but perhaps Vermaelen has something to do with their interest in Hedwiges. Their current defence is really appalling though if the Emirates Cup is anything to go by.

    In other news,

Joe van der Sar wanted to stay with his teammates in Manchester initially, but looks like his mom got the overhand and he will join the rest of the family so it wouldn't surprise me if Ajax gave him a trial and have him play in one of our youth teams.

Edwin van der Sar likely to join the coaching staff and train the goalkeepers according to an interview with him by de Telegraaf

Looks like he expected 1st team action and we wanted him to join Jong Ajax instead or he wasn't happy with the contract length.

Van der Sar Testimonial game starts in 50 minutes. I wish I had gotten my new phone today instead of tomorrow so I could take some pics. Oh well.

I think the negotiations were difficult, because the last time, they wanted to pay for Chivu in 3 years or so, and they couldn't give bankguarantees, Ajax had problems doing business with them.
But I understand they have a sugardaddy now?

    What a night!

I love how we can parade the CL cup around, because we can... since we're one of few clubs that have the privilage of keeping it. :D

The U13's game was the most fun to watch, our English friends seated next to us were really impressed with the Ajax kids.

    @ pablo85, yeps American sugardaddy.

Yeah he wasn't allowed to travel. Although he's still part of their squad he has barely played this season.

This is his latest tweet which basicly confirms it.

He probably isn't aware that Davids will have his coaching internship at Jong Ajax or he might've stayed. :p

Best of luck in his future endeavors I guess, at 20 years old he might think playing in the reserves is a set back but at least he will have games under his belt unlike being a squad player for the 1st team.

    some thoughts:

Amazing tribute. Was even more impressive than the one for Bergkamp imo.

Marc Overmars still looks like he could play Eredivisie games. Scored an amazing goal as well.

Serero was the best man in the match against Man U imo. He really is a gem.

It was odd to see Bergkamp and Overmars play for Man U.

I cant help but feel that we missed out a bit with not going in for Benni McCarthy, he was training with Ajax CT on a holiday to visit his mum, and then signed for Orlando Pirates. I still think he could have been good for us!

Yeah but how cool is it to play for such a historic club in South Africa. I was just reading a great book on how soccer affected the anti-apartheid movement and Orlando Pirates were a big part of it. Very cool.

    Hi,

Anybody have an idea how full the stadium will be for the Ajax - Heerenveen opener? I'm going to be in AMS that weekend but would prefer not to buy tickets until I get there (3 days before the match). Unless you guys think the match might get sold-out, in which case I'll ask someone to get the tickets for me beforehand. Or maybe it's sold-out already(?)

There will always be few tickets available for regular league games, but you may end up with the more expensive luxurious seats or those at the very last row (not recommended for persons with vertigo, stairs in Holland are very steep as is the case in the ArenA)
