I think at this stage of his career, Leroy Sane would work well as an impact sub. Let him and run riot against tired opponents for the fast paced attack.

It would certainly be good to have a direct winger as a bench option IMO

Agree with both of you on Sane.

Hopefully Müller gets into form for the WC this summer. His chemestry with Werner is a good sign. Maybe a formation with 2 strikers would be best if Reus isn't fit.

    Neuer
    Boateng Hummels Süle
    Kimmich Kroos Rudy/Gundogan Hector
    Oezil/Goretzka
    Müller Werner

    Agree

he isn't a 9 or a winger - best in that support striker role.

What I also like about Mueller apart from his previous heavy goal scoring is he works very well with Ozil - but that whole deal kind of got broken when Klose got too old.

Those 3 were awesome, but its not the same with Gomez or "insert false 9"

i don't want to shit talk Kroos, he's absolutely magnificent and i rate him to be one of the best midfielders in the world but defensively he's bad and when Germany sends so many players forward I'm never comfortable watching him defend if the opponent counter

Anyone else wants Saudi Arabia and Germany in the same group? So Muller can break Klose's record in the first half before Werner breaks it in the second.

what I've always liked about Germany tho is that everyone on the team scores and assists goals - they work as a unit and they are not very selfish

it's why he needs a more defensive player like Rudy etc that can do the defending for him.

So what are Germany's weaknesses now (other than being injury prone :()? If they are healthy won't we have world class players at almost every position? Maybe LB with Jonas Hector?

If Werner gets injured we're ********ed. That's our weakness

Not necessarily. With Gomez fit for the semi I think the team would have won the EC. Obviously Werner staying healthy is important though. If Reus is fit and Muller, Gotze and Sane have good seasons the attacking options look great.

Well we still have Gomez or Reus

Uth has a similar game. Not as fast but more clinical

Werner, if he can keep or even improve his current level, is going to be absolutely crucial for us.

I think playing CL with RB should help improve him ahead of the WC.

Since we are basically qualified, I'm hoping Low gives chances to some new players in those 2 games. Like the players that came from the U21 summer win for example.

Would that be helpful if they have no chance of going to the WC anyway? Many of the players who have won the Confed Cup already can't go to Russia next summer. The U21 winners have even less of a chance (unless someone has an extraordinary development this season but we won't know that yet in October).

Well Gnabry was selected before being injured and he didn't deserve any call ups if you look at his U21 and current season form.

you also have to consider Europe play which starts next week. There was a big contingency of U21 players who could play in EL with Hertha Berlin starting next week or players like Toljan, Dahoud, Philipp with Dortmund.

who knows what could happen in 1 month.

Possibly, but I believe Low recognizes that he still needs the team to gel, with the new players in. Also Northern Ireland will be a good test, can't wait to see how the team performs with that game.

the only new player that needed to gel is Werner, back in the CC they talked about how the team needed time to adapt to his speed and play. Everyone else is mostly established players, when Boa is fully fit. The 4 defence+ keeper are already set. Even the midfield and attack is mostly set. If Reus is fully fit again, then maybe he needs to readapt himself after years missing out. But the rest not much.

Don't see why Germany shouldn't win this tournament at the moment when their squad is way better than the squad in 2014 imo

Well no, I think in quality and depth only Spain can be compared with Germany. Belgium, France, Brazil have mostly very good first 11s or very good depth in one department but lack the overall quality and depth that is needed for a tourney like the world cup. I only can see Spain or Germany win it all.

France with Pogba, Griezmann, Mbappe, Lamar, Lacazette, Benjamin Mendy, Koscielny, Varane, Kante, Sidibe, Loris

Spain with Asensio, Isco, Morata, Iniesta, Silva, Koke, Busquests, Sergio Ramos, Pique, Alba, Carvalja, Theo Hernandez n De Gea

Brazil with Marcelo, Alex Sandro, Marquinhos, Neymar, Firminho, Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, Daniel Alves, Fernandinho, Willian n Ederson

Still better than us. I think we are in the 2nd tier along with Argentina, England
