I see this as an on-going thread for years to come.....the kid is really really good. bad news, he is currently in the German national team pool. But, like every prospect coming out of Germany these days his chance of playing for Senior Germany in the future are slim. His chances of making a US national team pool down the road are higher.
I didn't know the Germans were so big on wide receivers. http://www.uoflsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/parker_devante00.html
He's a 96 that plays for Mainz's youth team. Yes, he is in the German YNT pool, but has only played 2 games for the U15 teams as far as I can tell, and none yet for the U16s. (although was called in for the game against Scotland last month).
Pretty sure his brother is Shawn Parker, the youth team striker who's been a part of Germany's set up but could find PT very, very scarce if the Germans stick with the 4-2-3-1.
He's a German Youth International, he won't be interested in the US until Germany stops calling on him. Same goes for Devante.
with a name like devante parker he should be playing for America. The Germans will never fully accept him
Maybe he meant to resurrect a Shawn Parker thread, because we haven't heard anything about Devante for 2 years now. Devante's a....................................96?
Yep, a '96. Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, he doesn't have a classic German name like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mesut Özil or Jérôme Agyenim Boateng so it's hard to see him fitting in with the squad.
I don't really get it. In order to find this thread buried in the brains of this server, you would have needed to specifically search for Devante Parker. So a person specifically searched for Devante Parker (a player most of us hadn't even thought about in 2 years) just to say Germans "wouldn't accept him." Which is so patently false to begin with that it needn't be discussed. By the way, while we're on the subject........................how's Devante doing? Anybody know?
Devante Parker has been called up to the Germany U18 team. http://www.mainz05.de/mainz05/aktuell/news/news-detail/article/vier-mainzer-bei-u18.html
Honestly, I fear that the U.S. team will never fully accept him as a teammate until he stops playing for other countries.
Dave, isent that mainz player in the above picture- Aaron seydal and not devante parker? To which, isent Aaron seydal possibly an American also?
It does look like him, and the caption says so, so ... yes, it's Seydel. As possibly as anybody else, I suppose, and I've wondered that myself, but I don't have any information either way.
