Can he play left back? I know this isn't the thread for USMNT stuff, but if he could play LB, he'd be an instant call up if he keeps up all this PT

He can play left back, but it is a big step down for him

Not starting today. Looks like he's been dropped by the manager:

FC Groningen Desevio Payne appointed as successor to Atalanta left Hans Hateboer. Initially coach Ernest Faber filled that too, but now the situation is already very different.

Payne could not convince enough recently and seems to be sacrificed for the home match against FC Utrecht by Faber says RTV Noord . It is unclear whether the coach will make that decision for several duels. Samir Memisevic seems to benefit in any case.

@freisland is there a website(s) that show player ratings for prior Eredivisie matches?

I'm sure there are. I don't use any that much. I do visit the page linked below for the weekly summary and they give a rating on each player (though it will take more work than you want) as he summarizes each game each week (click through on the top image to go week by week.) I don't think they do a running total over the year though.

There's always whoscored too. Feyenoordfan posted a couple recently in one of the threads - probably his "yankes behind the dike" or whatever it's called.

Not completely shocking Payne is benched, but that he's sitting in favor of Memisevic doesn't make much sense. As far as I know (I'm no expert) Samir M plays CD/DCM and usually on the left... but maybe Faber is switching things up.

Voetbal International does ratings, but I think it's only in the print edition.

Yeah, check out @feyenoordsoccerfan 's posts.

FWiw Groningen blew a 2-0 HT lead to lose 3-2. Payne did not get off the bench. It looks from the match report that Memisevic did indeed play RB. He went 90 but it's hard to imagine the back 4 will be seen to positively after giving up 3 goals in 30 minutes.

Fwiw, Zivkovic did not come on until after the 3rd goal. Kerk started up top with Haller and got an assist on the winner.

  16. Stupid defending by Utrecht lead to the Groningen goals. Then Groningen decided to copy that in the second half.

  17. Probable line up against Ajax:

Deze elf spelers staan vermoedelijk in de basis:

I would put in a 5-3-2 or a 4-4-2 system with Des to smother the Ajax attack. The Ajax midfield isnot that good, so an extra man with a 4-4-2 against them would sufficiently deprive the Ajax attack from feeding passes.

  18. Payne in against Ajax after red card for Groningen defender.

  19. With ten men saved a 1-1. Draw helps Feyenoord.

    parts unknown
Specifically the Groningen RB who took his spot, so Des will presumably have next game too.
