not only is his club fighting relegation battle (lost 2-1 in leg 1) but according to TM he's headed out. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/desevio-payne/profil/spieler/273570

This could be a great move for Payne if he can stay healthy. It's been a nightmare 18 months dealing with injuries. It's a 1-yr. deal so it's a make or break season for him. Fingers crossed..... P.S...... Aren't FC Emmen supporters known to be a little rowdy and coo-coo for cocoa puffs?
thanks! for some reason the wiki wasnt clear on that and i was confused how the 7th place team got that promotion
Those Low Countries have some wild playoff systems that make MLS's salary structure seem simple by comparison.
The first word (usually spelled with a y rather than an i) is a homophobic slur towards lesbians. I grew up in a town that had a levee running the length of the river that we called a dike though, so it took me a long time to learn that there was a second meaning.
I don't really know Emmen aside from bits of a few games where I was watching yanks, but former Heerenveen LB, 27 yo Turkish-Dutch Caner Cavlan, who was the lock LB this season (4g, 7A - 2 of the goals scored against Heerenveen in a game I watched a bit of. grrr.), is out of contract this month and headed to Austria, other LB 24 yo German LB Nico Neidhart (only a handful of Apps) is head to Hansa Rostock. Assuming Payne is in as an LB he will be competing with Jan-Nikla Beste who is coming in from Weder's U20 (Was originally in the BVB U's, and is also, I think, in the German U19 and even U20 set-up a bit? others will know better.) He is, obviously, young but seems to have had some quality youth action. Dunno if there is a more seasoned LB in Emmen's transfer plans. That seems like a somewhat risky pair to rely on.
Appreciate the "the Netherlands" but slightly sad it might be necessary... (For those who wonder, Emmen is in the province of Drenthe - just SE of Frysk/Friesland, on the border with Germany.)
