why none ever tought about luring Des Moines into the Nasl? After the departing of Minnesota United to MLS the Menace would be a steady presence in the Midwest considering they average more than 3000 people and they're just in PDL
You do realize people have asked every year why the Menace don't go pro? We can only assume they like their success equilibrium they've achieved. Why rock the boat?
that's a pity and a waste, furthermore Nasl need to expan in the midwest so I don't get why none in the league went to talk to them and convince them to jump into a new league
Are you just going to do this with every lower level club? The Menace are an amateur club. They've done fine as an amateur club. They are in a relatively small metro area. You just posted about the Philadelphia Fury (whose owner couldn't sell the DNC a time machine) being a potential benefit to "future television deals." Do you think Des Moines, Iowa adds anything in that regard? Forget it, let's bring in @aetraxx7 on this one. AE, why don't the Menace go pro? And why won't they just jump right from the amateur ranks to Division II?
and yes I am going to do it with every lower division team I see feasible for a move into Nasl, by the way even if Peterson is not the commissioner anymore I keep on sharing his view on Nasl and I still hope in the years will be able to contend the first division crown to MLS
Why? And what makes you think they would be a "steady presence?" Do you know how big the jump is from the PDL to DIII, much less DII? There has been talk routinely about Des Moines because they're a long-term franchise that has had success at the amateur level and draw very well for a PDL team. That does not mean they could turn pro next month, next year or in two or five years. That does not mean they should be courted because of their geography. There's only just over 600,000 people in their metro. Have you seen what happens to amateur clubs that try to turn pro?
Well, good luck with that. You're going to get a lot of the same responses, then. Are you lonely, is that it?
you're the lonley one aiming at my topics and firing them as you were doing a safari, get a life please
Based on what math? They have 600k people in the metro area and 3k people show up now. Where are the other 12k going to come from? The magical lure of being professional?
Well after they just talk to them and convince them to join the NASL (which is easy, that's why NASL has so many teams, just gotta have the talk) they will easily be able to increase attendance by about 500% now that they are D2.
Fort Lauderdale (metro population 5.7M) barely had 21,000 people attend their entire home schedule in 2016.
Theres no incentive in Des Moines. They already get good attendance and are solid in PDL. Why pay expansion fees? Will more people in that smallish-metro come out because they are pro instead of amateur? Will they come out because they are playing the world famous Cosmos as opposed to the St Louis Lions or Thunder Bay Chill? Doubtful.
Keep in mind that moving to NASL would entail adding games outside of the favorable summer months. Would they be able to nearly double their attendance with 16 games from March to November? Much tougher than you think. Would the increase in revenue and risk overcome the DRASTICALLY higher operating expenses? Most likely no, otherwise it would have been done already
