Bristol City extended their unbeaten start to the League One campaign to four games thanks to a hard-earned 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Rochdale at Spotland today.... Lurking at the far post, Wilbraham narrowly failed to apply a finishing touch to a Derrick Williams cross, while Baldock showed Dale’s defence a clean pair of heels to deliver a dangerous ball across the face of goal.... At the other end, Williams met Elliott’s floated free kick with a downward header, only for it to lack the power to beat Logan, who gathered two-handed down to his right. Chances continued to materialise at both ends as the game entered its final phase, Henderson having a shot blocked for Dale and Williams then heading over from an Elliott corner.... City (3-5-2): Fielding; Ayling, Flint, Williams; Little, Elliott, Smith, Freeman (Wagstaff 56), Cunningham; Wilbraham, Baldock. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/TIME-R...tory-22810796-detail/story.html#ixzz3BiOeRXW1

#BristolCity are the Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners 2015 and the first team to win the trophy for a third time!— Bristol City FC (@BristolCity) March 22, 2015 Williams went 90 in the trophy win.
Started all but two games for Bristol City this season and won the League One title. He'll be in the Championship next year.
Is he eligible for the U-23's? Starting CB in the championship is pretty enticing though i know theres also some good youngster with the guys at the U-20 WC.
was trying to be sarcastic because more BL2 players get a shake than Championship players. Championship is clearly the higher level.
Williams went the distance at left wing-back in 3-0 road loss to Rotherham United yesterday. Williams had been a regular for struggling Bristol City in the Championship this year. @bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent Promotion to the main forum?
A young starting left back in the English Championship, even with an EPL appearance to his name -- seems odd why he hasn't been called up by the FAI at any level since 2013, even though his Ireland U-21 eligibility didn't expire until 2015. Not saying he necessarily deserves a call-up to their senior team, but odd why he didn't even get called to U-21 during a two-year span he was still eligible. He should still be one for US Soccer to watch out for if Ireland does not want him.
He was a regular starter when they were in League One but was he in the Championship last year? I didn't think he was.
Looks like he had 21 Championship starts and 2 cup starts, so he did get plenty of starts, but you're right that he wasn't a regular every-match starter. Anyway, I doubt any of our most recent U-23 LBs (Miller, Serna, Ocegueda, etc.) could earn 20+ C'ship starts in a season, so hopefully Williams is still on the USSF radar.
Ireland are actually pretty deep at LB. Robbie Brady plays there at club level(although I don't see him playing there for Ireland ever again after Euro 2016). Stephen Ward plays there for Burnley in the EPL. Marc Wilson also has a history of playing there (and CB) at EPL level with Stoke and now Bournemouth. Greg Cunningham is another young guy doing well at LB in the championship and seems to be in the squads occasionally. All in all Derrick Williams is far off a callup at LB for Ireland. I have no idea if he's good enough but I bet he'd answer a USMNT call if he's at all interested.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Williams_(footballer) Looks like he only played in half the games. Not sure if through injury or selection.
Moving from one Championship club to another, the new one being Blackburn Rovers. Hopefully he can get more playing time. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/derric...bristol-city/story-29657984-detail/story.html
