No matter how the WC qualifiers are going to end, then the future is looking bright for the Danish NT...

Since 2004 the ITD (Integrated Talent Development) program for players between 16 and 21 has been fully implemented and carried out in selected clubs around the country.

The purpose of the ITD program (or ITU in Danish) is to develop the best youth players in order to prepare them for playing at the highest club level and in the U21 national team, through goal-oriented indvidual plans for each player, with the ITD/ITU coach improving the skills of each player by individual training specifically suited for the strengths and weaknesses of each player.. The progress is constantly evaluated and the program is then changed for each player when needed, to secure that the player(s) always keep developing..

Since ther is a (financial) limit to how many young players the Danish FA are able to help, the youth NT coaches pick the players according to a list made by the different ITD coaches. Ther are only few ITD/ITU clubs (the list is a bit old it seems) :

    http://www.dbu.dk/page.aspx?id=997

and even fewere of the absolut top A+ ITU/ITD coaches :

That's great. Nice to see that we're planning for the long term...it would be nice to have a strong side to put out for the Euros as well. Thanks for the info!

Well, the biggest problem is to develop top forwards, because Danish clubs often try to get instant success by signing experienced foreigners rather than using own talent... otherwise the clubs are not affraid of using young talented players, it only seem to be the young forwards who do not get much of a chance...

For me it doesn´t matter if Denmark goes through (wich they will). I will root for you guys emphatically without doubting. I love Denmark and it is really Denmarks turn to represent Scandinavian football in the big tournaments. You have been unlucky for so long. At last we see Denmark through! Sweden or Portugal go for second place. Denmark have impressed by far the most. Lagerbäck will hopefully leave for another guy who stands for more entertaining football.

    Go Scandinavia!

Ps. I love that Vi är vide vi är röde. I feel one of you guys when I listen to it....:D

Congratulations Denmark. I think you deserve 1-0, no doubt. You were better in the first half.

Something ala Euro 2004 in which both Scandinavian teams progress at the expense of Italy, or in this case Portugal.

Seeing Cristiano Ronaldo miss out on the World Cup would be priceless ;)

Hehe - nice! It's fun to watch that video and think of these players.

Frank Arnesen (one of the lead singers) in Chelsea
Michael Laudrup, a VERY young Brian Laudrup, a Morten Olsen who already then looked upset all the time :D, Allan Simonsen, Kim Vilfort, Henrik Andersen, Jepser Olsen, Preben Elkjær and so on.
Amazing talent on that team! I don't think we've been at that level before or after.

..not to forget Søren Lerby and Klaus Berggreen who are also in this video..

Michael Laudrup later won the "Best Danish Footballer of All Time" award... and among the nominees were Allan Simonsen, Preben Elkjær, Brian Laudrup, Morten Olsen.... and of course Peter Schmeichel (who is not in this video but got his NT debut in the late 80's)

    Hi everybody!:)

There going to be a friendly in Copenhague on August 12th: Denmark vs Chile.

I think these 2 NT's will play the WC in Africa next year.

Denmark is 1rst in the group, and Chile 2nd in SouthAmerican WCQ, but with a clear option to reach the 1rst place in september beating Venezuela at home).
Also, we're playing good football, and I hope this game would be a great match.
Probably many Chilean fans will travel from Sweden to Denmark to see the game.

Sorry to post this here. But I need to post a few replies apparently before starting my own thread, being a newbie. Does anyone know/have the (Danish) lyrics to the famous "We are red, we are white" song? Or where I could find the track, as featured in the 86 World Cup movie, "Hero"? ("Vi er røde, vi er hvide...")
It's for a t-shirt I am designing, honoring Danish Dynamite (Dansk Dynamit) and the Roligans. Many thanks!

    Hi there,

I plan to be in Denmark in October. I understand that the DNT trains in Vedbaek, and I was hoping to watch them a bit as they get ready for the Sweden match. Anyone know if their training sessions are open to the public?
