Congratulations to the Quakes staff for their presentation of Demolition Day at FMC. It was very well done. The weather cooperated with parted clouds and bright, sunny, almost warm weather. The team was present, as were cupcakes in the EQ tent. Souvenir foam hammers with the date handed out to fans. Lots of mingling in the crowd with council people, city staff, fans, EQ management, followed by apropos VIP remarks at the podium, then a Bradley Fighting vehicle making its appearance. it let down its gate and out emerged some hardhats on top of the heads of Wondo, Opara and others. They kicked soccer balls into the crowd and signed autographs. A huge construction vehicle then went into action, first dropping its bucket and claw down onto the asphalt, which caused a 'Do you feel that?" earthquake to spread across the pavement and shake up all of the fans behind the barriers. It swung up its arm and then began ripping into the side of the FMC building. At one point it pulled out a refrigerator and dropped it to the pavement. Then the bucket was lifted and dropped down on top of the appliance, which was smashed flat. The event was well-staged and there seemed to be plenty of cameras there, so I hope it makes it into general media coverage. Certainly a positive vibe about progress towards the stadium and fun to attend.

Yes, I agree that they did a great job with the event. I overheard Kaval and a FO person remarking on how many people showed up. They were pleased. Nice to see our elected officials there also. Even though the city cannot put money to the project, it was stressed how hard they were working to make things happen. Nice artwork on the buildings, though shame on those who forgot to add the two stars on top of a very nicely done Earthquakes logo. And gosh, weren't those airplanes noisy? Not!
Well lookie that! Pix of the Epicenter and nice things said about the Quakes on TV! That and some bonus Ultras artwork coverage as well. The glass is more than half-full.
May be the only stadium built in the Bay Area for a long time if Moonbeam gets his way. They're going to milk it for all its worth which is good for the Quakes.

Damnit, I need to pay attention to Quakes news. I would have been tempted to skip my midterm to see this. Still, its great news.
They'll need to setup wifi over there somehow first. I doubt there's even a working telephone line within a 100 yards of that place.

Reference to the gov is non sequitur. You know that, so why try to tie this in? Besides, you assured Meg was a lock. So now you need to do a *Marv Albert - post-kinky-prostitute-scandal* move and just lay low in re lowest common denominator politcal inferences. How about just Go Quakes? BTW, the Cal stadium renovation is on pace. That too might be non sequitur if I were attempting to relate it to The California Fiscal Crisis, but I'm not. Even so, you might be right (for the wrong reasons/rationalization)... Generic Quakes Stadium ("Epicenter" lightly written in #2 pencil) might well be the last stadium built in the BA. Implications for the 49ers and A's are another tangent.
Thank you! I can't wait until our two teams play a back-to-back in our respective new MLS SSS's (likely starting in 2013). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
hahaha! That's awesome, thanks for posting that doppelganger. I didn't realize it was such a show. You can tell that operator was good at what he does, and loved making a spectacle of it... The refrigerator part had me cracking up!
