I've been attempting to keep track of former indoor players players who have passed on, but because news about the old indoor leagues and their players travels rather slow, it's difficult to keep up sometimes. Sadly, the Baltimore Blast seem to have lost the most players from their all-time roster. The following are the players that I know of who are no longer with us from the original MISL and AISA/NPSL (and the team he played for most prominently): Kaz Deyna (Sockers) Slobo Ilijevski (Steamers) Barry Wallace (Wings/Comets) Paul Kitson (Blast) Mike Reynolds (Blast) Dominic Mobilio (Blast) Stan Stemenkovic (Memphis Americans/Blast) Helmut Dudek (Memphis/LV Americans/Blast) I'm sure I'm leaving someone out, so please feel free to fill in the blanks here, if you know of anyone else we've lost.
Wow, I never heard about Carlos--he was a fan favorite during his brief time here in K.C. I looked it up, and his death was just a couple months after Barry Wallace's passing--both from cancer. Very sad.
Good catch--I didn't think to include owners, coaches and even the referees (as bad as they were) in this. Original Comets owner/founder Dr. David Schoenstadt would be included, then--he died in late, 1991.
From the original Steamers Goalie Bob Robson- was shot by police after shooting his brother in law Original Steamers-Bill Stallings-Heroin I believe St. Louis Ambush- Dan Radke Murdered
I think Gino Dippolito Former ref passed away i have heard this around blast games several times I signed the "Help Get Rid Of Multi Point Scoring The The Major Indoor Soccer League " petition! http://www.petitiononline.com/Misl101/
Gino was still alive as of 4 years ago when I talked to him about guest-reffing my Cleveland game. I hadn't heard otherwise. Mike Reynolds, by the way, died in the offseason not during the season.
Card Shop--Mike Reynolds died in the offseason while playing in a volleyball game exhibition at jessup prison. It was an extremely hot day,and he had a stroke. I went to his funeral in Toronto.
This might be old news, but I just learned of two more passings, via the Wichita Wings tribute page: Ian Anderson (Summit/Force/Rockets/Steamers/Wings)--11-5-88 Glenn "Moochie" Myernick (Wings)--10-9-06
I died a little every time Renato Sampaio took the field for the Spirit. Remember when he fell onto the field...
Ian Anderson also played with the Canton Invaders during their second season (1985-86). Didn't know he passed away. Actual year was 2008, not 1988.
Not a player, but just happened to stumble upon this. Former MISL referee "Bill Maxwell" just recently passed away. He was one of the more well known refs for the MISL in the 80's. Thanks for the memories Bill. RIP https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...pioneering-pro-referee-bill-maxwell-dies.html
