Most telling moment was when their CM got the ball about midfield and then dribbled THE REST OF THE FIELD to get a good shot on Hamid (deflected just before by a defender). Some of this is not being good enough, but plays like that make me wonder if the coach still has the locker room.
Ouch for the 'Caps player. Folks, *that's* what a shot to the head looks like. Food for thought next time someone takes an "air elbow" to the face and goes down in a heap.
OT: I'm watching MN v ORL at the same time. MN's announcers are the biggest homers in MLS. And that takes some doing. crazy. At least Dave and Devon have some integrity
Three crossbars and a post, right? Gotta give credit -- the defensive effort in the second half was much much better. Still needed a couple of Hamid saves, but the effort was there. We're going to be less talented than nearly every team we play this season, so it's going to take every ounce of "grit" to be competitive. It's not sustainable, mind you, but it means something.
So. Which clanged louder. Someone faceplanting into the post or someone faceplanting into Hamid's forehead?
I'm embarrassed to win like this. That was shameful cheating by Ortiz. If there's any 'Caps fans reading this thread, I'm sorry. We totally deserved to lose. They hit woodwork 4 times. Not to mention some big saves from Hamid. This is the least satisfying 3 points in a long time.
I am just bemused. Bottom line is they didn't score. So I'm not sure we "deserved" to lose necessarily. This stuff all evens out over the course of the season
